I don't think there are many. I passed by that area and decided to go in a couple of bars there to see the show inside for the experience. One I think is a gay bar and they left me alone when I told the person who approached me that I like real girls.

Breakfast with menu. I had to ask how to turn on the lights. My only complaint was my room was next to the construction of the new building next door which started at lime 5 am.

You're willing to stay in the Marriott, a hotel that is routinely between $125 - $150 per night, and you're worried about the taxi fare to Centro? It's maybe 2 miles, but what difference does $6 or $8 make at that point? Personally, I'd use Uber. But if the cab fare is going to be a deal breaker, you'd best be looking at other hotels.

Haven't had any issues so far, knock on wood, but other members (or should I say Eskimo brothers) have reported issues, as documented here on the forum.

Good point about Uber, haven't tried it (usually leave my phone in the US, crossing over to Mexico without it; may get a local SIM card down the road), but there are some reports here where folks have had a good experience. More data needed.

    Hotels

The hotel Velario area is very sketchy with numerous reports of choke holds and policia shakedowns.

The 'girls' hang out in that areas are big and tall, some may have bigger dicks and balls than yours and mine.

Hotel Hacienda de Santiago and Leyva may be better and safer.

You could try the hotel Velario. It's on 1st street, about a half block down Ninos Heroes. The only common ding it gets in it's reviews is that the neighborhood it's in is full of prostitutes (LOL! You can book it on normal hotel sites like Travelocity, Expedia, and TripAdvisor. Typically around $40 a night plus tax.

I've always want to use Uber and Mexico but I haven't had the balls too try to. Would you say uber is decently safe to use in Mexico over a cab and where would you normally pick the ubers up from? I was thinking of going to Rosarito sometime next month would you say that that is a good option just Uber it?

    La Villa de Zaragoza

I can recommend La Villa de Zaragoza on Av. Madero. About a block and a half from Av. Revolucion; not far from Las Pulgas. A 7-11 is close by to load up on snacks and drinks. It's not fancy like the Ticuan; it's a 2 star but it's safe, has hot water and aircon and cable TV. It's all I need when I'm in Tijuana for a few days. Never called an escort over but I've read others have. Pics are below. Might not be nice enough for some, though.

I'm actually curious about all the cheap hotels in Tijuana, if they're safe, what their weekly and monthly rates are, etc. Next trip I'm going to do some recon on the cheapies and report back.

Again, another way is to take the collective, which I have taken both directions, many, many times between Marriot and downtown (4th and Constitucion), with a one-way fare of 12 pesos (can be 15 pesos late at night). One of the many benefits, besides cost, is that you are safe from a situation where a taxi driver may have colluded with the police to stop you to shake some money off you, which can at times happen late at night.

I stayed at both Ticuan and Cascadas. At Cascadas, I stayed on the top floor and got a Master suite room which has the jacuzzi (definitely recommend it). I went on a Monday so it only cost $20 if you have a VIP card (80% discount on rooms on Mondays). They had just cleaned the room because I had to wait for the cleaners. Overall it was okay, but there definitely could've been room for improvement. Namely, add some damn lights to the room, it's really dark even with all the lights turned on. There was no remote for the television, no instructions for the WiFi (had to call down), and the safe wasn't reset so I couldn't use it. I paid $20 for it though. Can't really complain LOL. Next time I go, I'll probably do the same: spend a night at Cascadas and then the rest I'll stay at Ticuan.

Ticuan was much better. An actual hotel. I got an Executive Room. Much roomier. Front desk / doorman didn't ask questions when I brought my date with me at night. Maybe a 10 minute walk to HK. Free breakfast. When you get your room, ask them to see if you can get a room that faces the atrium (much quieter).

Inside the Zona, the only one I can recommend staying in is Cascadas or the one above Tropicals when Cascadas runs out of rooms. I have stayed at 4-5 of the ones in and around the alley and they are extremely poor. With Cascadas, always ask for a top floor room. The lower floor rooms are for sex and is unclean due to high traffic. Same with over at Tropicals.

    Parking?

Baja Mex. Closest to ped west exit. $6 Mon. Thurs. $20 fri. Sun. Used many times when not staying the night. Not good if you spend the night as parking ends at 8 am then you have to pay another day.

I haven't used the $24 dollar lot since it was $12 but I thought I remembered it was 24 hrs.

Traffic and weather to San Diego and Tijuana

This week It's sunny by cold with a cold front over Southern California. I usually check Caltrans' real time San Diego traffic and weather.com for storms.

Traffic can be risky. Monday afternoon in sunny, clear weather, a woman pilot and her husband departed Riverside Airport to return to San Jose in an old 1974 twin-engine Cessna 310, carrying 3 high-school cheerleaders to Disneyland camp.

Ground crews said she had problems starting the engines. The plane had problem right after take off, went down wing-level, blew up in a huge fire ball. 3 are dead. What a huge waste of sweet, young beauties. The woman pilot and a young girl survived with critical burns. There are no open spaces anywhere near Riverside airport to land a fast and heavy plane like the see 310, except may be Freeway 60 about 3 miles North, which would be packed with commuters' cars at that hour:
