"I believe mesero 11 (new guy, not Vale) and a curly haired girl worked together and slipped me something.

Mesero brought me the girl, she would not take the wave off. Sat down and kept talking to me even though I declined to buy a ficha. Mesero 11 kept hovering but not pushing for ficha like they normally would. She kept pushing hard to go room. Eventually offering 1hr for 300p.

I've made many visits to Tijuana, but always did in-and-out. This was my first time staying over more than about 12 hours at a time. Booked a Jacuzzi suite at the Ticuan before leaving. Figured that I'd be able to make some good use of the tub during my visit. Before leaving, I arranged a TLN with 2 chicas from MLB for my first night. I arrived at the hotel around 5:00pm on Wednesday. I also converted $100 into pesos, figuring that this would be good for restaurant meals and snacks / drinks from the XXOO. The line looked to be over an hour. I had to sit in the van for under 30 minutes before they let us out and I was through security in another 10 minutes. Plus, I was just able to chill in the van and read a book instead of standing in line.

Overall, a very satisfying trip.

I always order my beers from a can. Not specifically due to that reason but because I like the taste of canned beer better.

Not sure where you've been hanging out, but the meseros / meseras at every bar I can think of carry a bottle opener for a reason. If an opened beer shows up at your table, send it back for a sealed one and watch them open it at tableside.

Personally, I think the odds of being slipped a mickey these days is pretty rare, at least in a bar. I really think there is much more to the story than we know, or will ever know. It's obvious the poor guy was targeted. We'll probably never know why.

Oh, and 20 beers in a night? OMG. I'd like to meet the guy. I wonder what his liver looks like?

Personally, I don't recall ever being served an unopened beer anywhere in Tijuana. To have a waiter show up with an opened drink would be a huge red flag. But a waiter removing a "replaced" cap, especially in a noisy club, might be do-able.

I once hung out with a lady who was so paranoid she insisted on opening her own beers. The waitresses all thought she was crazy, but maybe she was on to something.

At this point I guess I would say to not order a mixed drink at all from the waiter. If you want one of those order it directly from the bartender and watch him make it.

I know the monger that ihis happened to and he isn't stupid. He is a friend of mine. A waiter can easily re cap a bottle of beer after opening it. I've seen it done when people order the wrong beer.

I think part of the problem had to do with him being well known in the bar. The girls and waiters knew his routine and several chicas have been to his room. It can happen to anybody.

He was brave enough to post about his experience to warn other mongers. The forum needs to show more respect in return.

I know the guy and he told me the story while we were hanging out in the alley Friday night. He posted this on a different site, but I thought it would be worth the effort to re-post it on ISG. Just to warn others what can happen, even if you spend a lot of time in La Coahuila. This is his story:

As far as me having enemies, I'm sure there are a few. You have the outers, who run to the chica and share pictures with her from this site and otters. But they don't have the balls to confront me face-to-face. Then you have the chicas. One of the reasons is I never stay with the same chica. When you are with the same chica 2-3 times, they want to claim you and want you to only be with them. At my old age, life is too short for relationships.

last week i was supposed to meet up with an amigo at las pulgas. at around 8 pm he texted me he was on his way. after hanging out most of the night he never showed up. as i learned the next day, he thinks he was the victim of a mesaro and lady working as a team who may have drugged his cervaza. after several beers it seems he became disoriented and does not have much of a memory of what happened next. he does recall the chica the mesaro brought over offering a very low price for an extended session. he knows he didn't end up in the room with her, he says he did remember texting me he was on his way and the next thing he remembered was waking up around 8 am in his room.

the next day he learned that a chica he knew saw him in the bar and noticed he was totally out of it and helped him to his room. fortunately he woke up the next day and was not missing anything. this could have ended badly had he have taken the bait and ended up with the girl who was offering up the special deal just to get him up to the room.

although this kind of thing is not an everyday occurance (yet) you should always take precautions. never leave your drink unattended. don't accept a drink that has not been opened in front of you. it might even be a good idea to carry your own opener and insist on doing it yourself. that way the masero can't reattach a cap and then pretend to open it in front of you.

and if you are somewhat of a regular down there it sure helps to have a girl or masero who you take good care of with propinas and try to develop a friendship with who will watch out for you.

it was probably rohypnol better known as "roofies" (a. k. a. the date [CodeWord123] drug) that was used for that. rohypnol is illegal in the united states for all purposes but is legal in mexico for medical uses so unfortunately it is widely available down there. it is used as an anesthetic in other countries (doctors do not want to use it for that here because there are other drugs that work better). i personally do not drink alcohol for medical reasons so i always order "agua embotellada" while down there. the bottle comes sealed and i unscrew the cap off. i guess if you drink beer it would probably be advisable to order your beer directly from the bartender and watch him hand it to you. do not order it from the messero and obiously make sure when it is opened you can hear the carbon dioxide being released.

The intended victim was not TomJ. However this incident was discussed on another Tijuana website and TomJ is right about the bar it occured in.

The person who was drugged has been back to the bar several times since and the Mesero and chica have seemed to disapear.
