T-Mobile; s 4 g internet service works most of the time. There times when I have to connect to the Telcel service instead. One key is turn off the adaptive network selection. Sometimes I will a get a invalid server message when trying to dial Mexican number in Tijuana.

I am going to try Google Fi next weekend. I have Consumer Cellular and can use a T-Mobile chip internationally but always have to reset my voicemail when coming back into USA.

I think for Google Fi have to be near wi-fi however.

Yes hotels now with vaccines and more people traveling (pent up demand) highest I have ever seen in San Diego even over holiday weekends. I use to be able to book good rooms downtown San Diego for just over $100 on holiday weekends.

T-Mobile has the basic 55+ plan with unlimited voice and data in US, Mexico and Canada for about $50 a month.

T-Mobile also has the Magneta plan with free voice and text in 210 countries for about $75 a month. I would switch to Magenta plan when I travel then switch back to the cheaper plan.

With AT&T and Verizon you have to buy their separate international plan which can be expensive. If you are on the high floor in Cascada, sometimes you can get strayed signals from Sen Diego but it's not reliable.

Yes. Verizon can suck at times in Tijuana. (at times it does work.).

Best thing to do is as others have said. Just bring a 2nd phone down. Get a sim chip from TelCel in Rio Mall and put $10 on it etc.

Also. Get the web site info on how you can reload the card from the web site with a credit card. (you can reload it from any XOXO location but it's better if you can just do it from the web site).

TelCel is Much faster than the Verizon speeds when you can connect.

I have had trouble with cell phone coverage for Uber in Tijuana, I have Verizon and have really good coverage everywhere else. Any suggestions?

Just booked a different motel on Tijuana side for $82. Hopefully Uber drivers are plentiful.

Overall inbound flight is one way to San Diego.

Astros at Padres Saturday 6 pm matinee Sunday 1 pm.

Utilize all the trolleys San Diego has to offer.

(For Sunday 1 pm, not sure how long pedestrian entry process would take)

Hobby in Tijuana when not wearing Astros gear in a California arena.

Monday 9:30am outbound TIJ-MTY some possible Monterrey hobby then a long Monday night Greyhound from MTY back home.

Anyone under 40, with enough time, should spend a. Ight at the beach hostel in Pacific or ocean beach. You will be partying with hot 25 year old that won't ask you for a penny. Just don't grab their boobs. And everyone smokes up weed all day long non stop on the outside patios. It's like going away to college again and going to a party at the frat house.

Unlocked Tijuana phone with Telcel chip. Go to Plaza Rio main Telcel HQ for phone and pre paid service. You can refill in USA using Xoom / PayPal.

I agree Uber is cheaper as long as your cellular provider doesn't lose coverage when hailing a ride. Drinking and driving is never a good idea especially when you're going to have to pass through the border. A cab is cheaper than a DUI.

"Motel 6" at 745 E Street in Chula Vista. Right next to the trolley stop "E Street" Travel time of the trolley to the border. San Ysidro station 20 min.

I used to stay there all the time. Prices go up in the summer ($90 ?) and they are usually pretty full. Although with Covid who knows. GREAT location for food and transport to Tijuana.

Wow $ 90, I think it is much cheaper in the off-summer season. I have stayed there a lot of times at this motel when I lived in Northern California. There are a lot of restaurants around like: McDonald's, Denny's, Taco Bell, Angus steak, Aunt Emmy's breakfast (my favorite), supermarket, liquor store and right next to the "E Street" trolley station. Last trolley from San Ysidro is 1258 AM. If you are later in the night a taxi from San Ysidro to this motel is around $ 25. But overall it's a good location to visit Tijuana and San Diego (trolley travel time 20 min to San Ysidro or downtown San Diego).
