Not a knock, buy why carry a money clip and wallet? IMHO, a wallet is an invitation to pickpockets, especially the uniformed kind.

I carry folding money and my passport card / SENTRI card in a front pants pocket. I find it's easier to keep track of a single item, should I have to assume the position.

Other than that, you did everything right. It appears that things may be degenerating. In the old days, under Jorge Hank, the cops were simply brazen. They'd lurk at the taxi drop-off and shake down drunk gringos right in front of God and everybody. Then Calderon sent in the army to clean up the Tijuana police force and things did get better. I wonder if we're witnessing a return to the bad old days.

In Tijuana where some of the banditos are forced to wear uniforms it does make it a little easier to avoid them. Whenever I see them I will do anything to avoid contact. This has happened to me TWICE in the last 6 months. Those FUCKERS are faster than pick-pockets. I try to grab my money and passport VERY fast and they seem to be a lot faster than me. I now tell them (in English) that I am ALWAYS getting ripped of by you guys!. Almost was "detained" the last time for (Disrespecting a police officer!)
