I plan to get a expedited replacement at the passport service in SAN, but I've heard conflicting stories about requirements for crossing by foot.

Crossing back into the US, just show them your Driver's license and tell them that you forgot your passport. Don't give them grief, be respectful, and you'll be fine. You're probably going to get sent to secondary and they'll look you up.

Crossing into Mexico, they'll probably give you some shit, and someone will pull you aside, and say that he can fix the infraction and give you a day pass or some nonsense for $30-40 bucks. It's a shakedown, it sucks, but you messed up. Again, be respectful and don't give them grief, and you'll be fine.

Applying for a passport at the UCSD passport processing center is the best option. The passport card is only $60. The other advantage is that you don't have to worry if can cross into Mexico.

Mexico is so hit and miss walking in. Sometimes nobody will even check. And on the other hand if asked present the expired passport and there is a chance they won't even notice. The worse scenario is they deny you entry and walk you back to the USA If you make it into Mexico coming back to the you. S with an expired passport and ID will be no problem.

If you are denied entry and dead set on going. You will find people willing to drive you in in the area of Jack In The Box corner. Of course its there business and they will want somewhere in the area of $50. So if you are able to find a ride in from maybe an amigo on here or one selling a ride no FMM is going to be needed when driving in.

Of the coastal road North of the cruise ship pier and before the airport, there was a bullring on the right hand side with a dirt road. About 500 yards in that road there was a walled-in Zona Tolerencia with 5 bars surrounding a dirt parking lot. There were a couple hot young girls working even in the day time, about $60ST sessions. The zona is still working and the quality of the establishments has improved. Don't think there is much going on in the daytime though. He's asking if he can go to Mexico. If he's only going to Tijuana he can just pay 20 dollars to Mexican border guys in the office. Tell them your going for 1 night only. Because there's no permit given to you anyway. Otherwise you have to find a car going into Mexico. As far as returning goes you don't need anything but a drivers license makes it quicker.

Officially Mexico's Imm wants to see your passport, but you can always clalm passport was stolen and offer them a propina, like $10 will likely do. If that fails, come back in half hour and try it with a different Imm guy. If they still block you, call up the Hong Kong club to arrange for a guy to drive you across. No driver ever got checked for passport at the El Chaparral border entry check point. Alberto Quinto runs a VIP transport service, picking up guys from anywhere in San Diego and deliver them to Hong Kong / Cascada for a small fee.

On returning to the US, just claim with US Imm your passport was stolen (by the rotten wife) and present other IDs. Once you have a passport, US Imm has a lot of info on line they can quickly verify your Imm status. They kow a lot about you and have to let you back in by laws.

A bunch of San Diego girls wanted to party in Hong Kong so bad, they crossed the border even though they never had never been granted a passport. They came back to US without problem.

You can cross with a receipt of passport application. The best place to apply is at the UCSD passport center. The Mexican immigration might let you enter with a expired passport. But they will make you purchase a FMM. You can apply a for a FMM pass online and you can enter for free. When crossing back to the US the best thing is to say you lost your passport. Just show them your drivers license and they will let you pass. If you show them your expired passport then they will automatically send you to secondary inspection.

Anyone who thinks it's a good idea to go to a hospital in America either has health coverage that's costing them $5000 a year or they don't understand anything about hospitals or doctors. The United States is the worst place to go to the doctor, it is also the worst place to buy medicine. 70% of the world does not need healthcare because the cost of going to the doctor is always less than US $100 and you can buy medicine in most countries for just a few dollars.

You might be able to convince somebody in this forum that the US healthcare system is good, but for intelligent people like myself we know better! Medical tourism exists because of countries like America who completely exploit those in need!

Although, you also believe that the US government doesn't overpay on its military contracts even though in 1999 the total budget for the military was less than 300 million and currently it is triple that at 900 billion. In the last 20 years who here has seen prices or salaries go up 300%?.

Funny you should ask about the adventure with the girls. Myself and other female friends who are "Mexico" friendly crossed about 11 am. One of the girls has not been to Tijuana so we visited several places before a late lunch at the infamous Casear's restaurant.

After we eat it was probably 3:30 pm. We walked down to Plaza Cecelia so my buddy could see it which always has some action going on. Mind you I don't want these ladies down in Tijuana after dark. So they decided to go back but I never offered HK. At it just didn't feel like the right moment for that crazy shit!

If it was just myself and one of the gals I would have offered to have a drink / bite at Azuls. That place overlooking the alley is quite amazing with all the shit going on, especially if you have never been. And maybe. A peek into HK depending on how she handles Azuls.

Anyway. On another adventure I may expose her to that stuff as there are many adventures in the Tijuana land!!

US is a terrible place to get sick, so many Americans have to choose between insulin or a meal is sad. If you have money, it's great, get the best care from top doctors etc. Our government gives away our tax dollars to fund pharma R&Don new drugs, then the pharma sells it to us at a much higher price than they do in other countries. We are pretty much subsidizing medicine for the rest of the world.

Europe has a way better healthcare system than we do in the states.
