No, but I got a cup of Coffee down in Zona Rio Wednesday afternoon and got asked for proof of Vaccination, which is new. I asked them when that started and they said "world came down today. " I ate street food the entire time I was down there, and none of those fine folks cared, and I was never asked for it at any OXXO. Could be just them, or it could be a food and beverage establishments thing. So if you're all 5 Gd up, make sure you have something to show if you get asked.

I would think not. The border "reopened" for non-essential travel back on November 8. Back when you crossed, the border was technically "closed" unless you had an essential reason to cross (like the "medical excuse" you mentioned). But even then the enforcement was lax, as you seem to have found out.

Only $20 per line plus $10/ GB, so $30 a month. Unlimited data costs $60 per line.

For 3 days travel in CDMX using Maps to navigate, I was using about 2 G a day. For 2 weeks at home in Dec I used only 100 MB a week.

You can buy a Moto 5 G Ace for $149,6 G RAM, 5000 MAH battery, Qualcomm Snap Dragon proc, Android 11, a very good deal.

Don't know how good coverage in US and other countries compared to TMobile.

Sometimes T-Mobile reception is a issue. Telcel is a TMobile partner & switching to T-mobile helps. You have go. Settings and choose adaptive connectivity. After this choose carrier Telcel. Sometimes you cannotame a call. I will try switching back to TMobile and see what happens. When you are back in the US you have to turn off adaptive connectivity or restart then the phone.

I have had AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint mobile carrier service and used all of them in Mexico. Sprint was the absolute worst. AT&T and Verizon were hit and miss. Took a chance on TMobile and I can tell you that this service is absolutely the best. There is some kind of seamless service arrangement between TMobile and TelCel that eliminates roaming and stuff. Easily the best. I have a Samsung A20 phone that I use. Not even a Galaxy and it works beautifully, including the pics from the camera and everything.

Google Fi works all over the world.

Switched from Sprint / T-Mobile to Google Fi and it's been a breeze. Seamless roaming everywhere. No data cap or roaming fees. You can get the unlimited plan, but the basic plan will only charge you for added GB up to the cost of the unlimited plan +$10. So it's cheaper if you rarely exceed your limit and won't screw you over those times you do.

If your phone can even HINT at its native US service, it will not roam in MX. Neither can it lock hard on a native home tower either.

It's not the carrier, it's the phone trying to save you roaming $. Your phone can say "no signal" but if you're within sight of US tower. Within about 3 mi of the border, you may end up in that condition where you can't see home, and won't roam MX carriers either.

Which is why. Depending on where you are, you will be in a phone logic black hole. Get enough distance, earth, or buildings in the way, and you will roam to a MX provider while those conditions exist.

Ah. That probably explains it. The poor phone is just confused. One of the dancers took my phone and connected it to WiFi. I think it was in HK if I remember correctly. Not that WiFi is good in there as I am sure it just depends where you are in the club.

No, there's never been proof of vax required to travel from San Ysidro to Mexico by foot. I don't think by air either. Mexico's border restriction are laxer than most, largely due to the potential negative effect on the economy of requiring proof of vax. I believe there is, or very soon will be, proof of vax for people entering the USA By foot from Mexico but note that that ONLY applies to foreigners (non-USA Citizens). The USA By law can't prevent a USA Citizen from entering the country. You could even flat out tell them you just tested positive for the most contagious form of COVID-19 and they would still be required by law to let you in LOL. But no, USA Customs agents also won't ask for this type of proof as you cross the border. They just want to see your passport and might ask you why you were in Mexico and what you brought with you from there.

I've had Sprint for 10+ years now. IMO, no serious issues with service in Tijuana. I get out and about between Tijuana and Rosarito and the Sprint service has been perfectly fine in like 90/95% of the spots I got to in my estimation. As I mentioned in previous posts, the service seemed not to work once I cross the border into Mexico from the USA But that could be due to this "signal hunting" issue that was pointed out earlier. I have also had issues at times with the service not working on Calle Coahuila (right after I walk out of HK or Adelitas) depending on where I stand on that street which is odd. But overall the service has been fine and not a problem in Mexico, at least for me. My Sprint plan is also probably cheaper than whatever the corresponding T-Mobile plan is.

Despite the recent Sprint / T-Mobile merger from a year or two ago I believe Sprint does still operate specifically from its own network (as opposed to also using T-Mobile's) though that should change within the next couple of years as the companies merge their networks.

Been to Tijuana plenty of times usually on weekends. Never during the week. First time fully taking advantage of my VIP using twice in 3 mo. Got a 2 br suite at Rizzo going with a vet friend of mine. Do they require a vax card to Cross border or get in clubs? Is it worth it during the week or am I going to be disappointed?

I just switched carriers recently and haven't been back since. My ATT phone always tried to switch to TelCel. My guess is that it will be either TelCEL or Movistar, they're the 2 biggest ones down there IIRC.

T Mobile works great in Mexico and is included in the data / call plans.

You're going to have to Google it for your phone, but there's a setting where you can tell it to lock onto a specific provider signal. It's usually set to auto, but you'll get a list. If you carrier pops up when you're in that list, you can set it to that carrier, and it won't try and connect to a new one if you lose signal, it will just wait until you have signal again and re-connect.
