I have a 6 month travel visa that expires in January so will see if I can renew easily.

I have been following their channel for some time now. They do some nice reporting on tourist areas of Mexico and have traveled quite a bit around the country. I wouldn't doubt what they are saying but at the same time the border area is a completely different animal than down South.

In general I think Mexico is saying they want a better caliber of tourist than the low budget SSI crowd or Hippies that goes down with a few hundred dollars and slums it for a few months. People like that do nothing for the economy. They want people to get the right paperwork done and prove they can contribute to the country instead of leeching off it.

They have every right and reason to do it.

I look forward to hearing of your experience.

The UTube guy doesn't quote the source of his information, so how do I judge the accuracy of some UTube guy trying to drive traffic to his web site? I will be interested to read about the experiences by others. It just plain doesn't make sense. Much of Mexico's economy is through tourism; why would they make it more difficult to enter the country? Mexican border cities are going to lose some of their revenue stream if this is accurate.

I have not traveled further south than Ensenada in the past five years, but I am in Mexico monthly for a few days at a time. Once I have crossed the border (always the pedestrian crossings), I have never been asked for my visa. About 30 percent of the time they just waive me through. (I am clearly White, Middle European, so it isn't because they have mistaken me for a Mexican national.).

Interesting thing about a 6 month visa: I have a friend in Chiapas (he flew there). Border agents at the airport won't give those anymore. Only like 3 month visas now. Guess it's different at land borders?

I got my 6 month visa in November with no problem in San Ysidro pedeast. Just tell the Mexican customs officer that you want a 6 month visa and pay $ 30. Easy with no problem and no questions asked.

That's good to know. I took care of my business I had in Tijuana already, and don't expect to be back until after the Omicron surge dies down or I get it. Whichever happens sooner.

I'm just looking forward to this nonsense finally being over just in time for summer.

Wow this is a big deal. Going to have ramifications all over Mexico especially cities not near border. I suppose what this means for gringos, is, the days of paying 30 dollars for 6 month pass to walk in on the Mexican line are now over. Because that pass will just be for a couple days or so. So there's no point in buying it. We will need the free pass. The problem with that is we need to waste time in line each time we go. We need to hope they don't tell us our reason is not valid. And we need to waste another stamp every time we walk in. For myself I will need a passport card because I can't fill my book just for 20 hour stays in Mexico 4 times a week.

I think mine expires in February. But I don't expect them to change this at the land border. Hell, they don't even check documents most of the time if you're driving.

They could, however, throw you straight into quarantine after letting you in. Thank God they haven't started that BS like Canada did.

    Driving down tomorrow.

In town thru the 14th, except for a stop in Ensenada 9-10th overnight.

There are always a few good reasons to visit. The SA hunt has been good, here are two new fresh ones, and I have 3-4 prior ones to always call up.

All citizens of the United States must present a valid passport when entering Mexican territory by any means of transportation. There are no exceptions for minors. Stays less than 72 hours within the border area, do not require an Official Entry Immigration Form (FMM).

Looks like it's just recommended to have customers show proof but not mandatory so I don't think most places will ask as I can't imagine Tijuana a having a high vaccine rate. From what I see in the papers is that the lines are long to get vaccinated but they have also ran out of the vaccine at times.

I would only go Wednesday or Thursday this time of year. But you are better off going on the weekend if time permits. Heading down this evening so will report later.
