Yeah, meseros bringing drinks you didn't ask for happens occasionally. Worse (in my opinion) is when you do agree to buy a girl a drink and she orders something more expensive than just a beer. I had one amazing hottie from Colombia do that to me last year. She asked for a drink and I said yes, and then the mesero brought her a beer and a shot of something and told me it was $25. Two minutes later, a masero shows up with a ficha drink. She said, "Pay him, papi. " I said, "I didn't order a drink. " She continued to grind and insist that I had ordered her a drink as the masero stood there with that stupid look that the maseros stand there with when they're trying to sell you something. She kept it up and I had enough. I said, "You ordered it, you pay for it. " Finally she got the message that I wasn't going to be bullied and both of them slinked away with their tails between their legs. I kept my seat.

Way back I used to ride the trolley occasionally with a beta bud of mine. This dude was so afraid of confrontation that he actually offered to pay some punk to shut of his boombox playing crap music. While I'm on the subject of scams, there are one or more pickpockets loose in HK. I've been picked 2 or 3 times lately (just titty money in my back pocket as I would NEVER carry a billfold into a zona bar, but money nonetheless). If I find out whose doing this, somebody is going to have a broken wrist and you'll read about it, I'm sure. Just sayin'.

No, CTC, clubs are open on the down low. Street vendors were out at midnight and OXXO was open at midnight. This was last night. Last HK girl I banged was after midnight.

They don't even serve beer in California. Lap dances are 40 bucks for like 6 minutes and then it's over, you get nothing done. A $9 ficha gets you at least 15 minutes of unlimited touching, kissing, flirting.

Even though I voice some complaints at times, the collection of clubs in Zona Norte is far better than anywhere in the USA. Further the basic going rate for a sexual session is $80 or slightly less if you pay in pesos for half an hour to a full hour if you have your own room. Guys should really book rooms for the night.

The street girls are much less which has been covered on here a lot.

The clubs also do operate in some ways like USA clip joints. Lots of pressure to spend money fast, drink a lot of alcohol, short you on time if your not using your own room for the night.

I avoid Strip club clip joints in the USA like the plague and stick to local clubs with low pressure to buy drinks or private services.

Unfortunately, it's hard to just sit back and sight see for any length of time. Chicas will make their rounds, maseros will bring chicas over and then quickly sell a fischa unless you decline her company. This cycle will repeat many times during your visit.

The only chances to sight see is if the club is really packed, or if you grab yourself a drink from the bar and walk around the club continuously without sitting down.

Welcome to Tijuana. As you've figured out, normal rules of etiquette don't always apply. The experienced girls can small a newbie from a mile away.

OK, first rule. It's YOUR money. YOU are the customer and you'll need to make sure things run YOUR way. HK is, first and foremost, a Mexican clip joint. They exist to separate you from your money as quickly as possible.

Notice the seating. If you walk into a club, and most seats are occupied by girls loafing around, what does your mesero do? He chases them away and seats YOU, the customer. See, you're spending money, and the girls aren't. (I'm leading up to my point. Bear with me) If you choose to just sit and stare, as long as you're drinking, you can do so for as long as you like. If you wish to be left alone you can be, but you'll need to make it clear in the correct manner. Remember the part I said about etiquette.

The meseros often bring girls around. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. Lots of guys are socially awkward and won't approach a girl. (In most Latino countries it's considered bad form for the girls to make the first move) So, the mesero brings one around. If you don't want her, you simply say No, gracias with a smile. (This is not to be confused with them bringing a girl around after a dance routine, where you're expected to tip her for her performance). After you reject the first couple of girls they'll stop bringing them. I've had them come up, sin chica, and ask if I wanted a girl. If they do that, just say you're waiting for a friend, or just want to relax. They get it.

If a mesero brings a girl around, and you like her, invite her to sit. The mesero will immediately want you to order a ficha drink. DO NOT DO THAT. You say "un ratito" and hold up your thumb and forefinger. Or tell him to come back in 2 minutes. Or similar. This gives you a couple minutes to decide if you want to buy her a drink. If he persists, tell both him and the girl to get lost. Remember, it's YOUR money. They bank on gringos being too polite for their own good. Don't be an asshole, but do be firm.

If a girl comes around of her own volition, she usually says "Do you want company?" You can just say no, thanks. I'm _ (insert excuse here). If she persists, then it's time to get firm. No, gracias! Dejame in paz if the no, gracias, doesn't work. There is absolutely zero reason to tip a girl $20, and then give up your seat. However, it is necessary to tip her a buck or two if you get to feel the goods.

You really don't need an explanation or tip or do anything else. If you are uncomfortable, tell the chica you are waiting for a favorite. If you really want to get rid of her for the day, tell her you ran out of money.
