Just heard that there is a curfew in Mexico that starts today. Not sure when the hour the curfew starts. Just glad I visited Tijuana before things got crazy.

Buddy of mine was in ZN last week. He has corona this week, all symptoms except coughing. He asked his San Diego doctor for a test, denied. There's hardly any testing here in affluent biotech-heavy San Diego. Hope the situation is better at some point in April, because right now it's shockingly bad.

That's unfortunate. When was he there? Do you know where he went, who he saw? Can you say?

They also don't count bodies piled up at the morgues.

My response was "dental work," and generated no follow up questions or comments. It's very common for people to Tijuana for dental work, I'm sure it's still happening since most business are still open. For instance, I got my hair cut at a barbershop, only the barber was now wearing a face mask. The hotel I stay at was functioning as usual, just fewer guests.

That is my standard answer all the time unless, I am in Mexico more then 3 days, then I say meeting with friends.

The situation with corona virus is better on the Mexican side. 20 cases in Baja California (10 Tijuana, 10 Mexicali). Meanwhile, California USA has 5591 cases (LOS Angeles county 1804 cases, San Francisco bay area 1765 cases, San Diego county 488 cases).

30 days ago, we in the USA reported very little Covid19 positives because we failed to have enough testing kits. Hell, I had all of the fucking symptoms and was denied testing even after I begged my health care for testing. This was last week.

We are vamping up testing kits manufacturing. I think we are aiming for 150,000 to 200,000 new kits per day starting Monday. Hopefully we can send extra testing kits to Mexico once we fully mobilize. Trade them kits for Frigarel. Win-Win agreement.

The reason (kind of joking) that there are less cases is because their bodies are used to all kinds of viruses. They have built up immunity at higher levels. It's like when I visited Varanasi India last year with a buddy. Indians could swim in the polluted Ganges river with out getting sick and if I tried that I would have had gotten sick for sure.

I just got back from two day trip to Tijuana. Entering Tijuana by foot from San Diego was as easy as ever. No agents manning the foreigners lane, a couple of agents on the Mexicans lane. I walked down the Mexican lane (though I'm American) towards the agents and no questions asked, they didn't even ask for ID, just waved me in with a "buenas tardes." The bars and restaurants were closed, but there were still quite some people out in La Zona, and quite a few street girls out actually. Since the bars are closed, streets girls may be picking the slack of business, but overall they told me it was slow. Many of the food stands were still open. There was even a small restaurant that defied the ban and stayed open. Returning back the US was easier than as ever, since no long lines. I crossed back into the US at 12:30 noon, and there were only three people in front of me in line. Only questions asked were "Where are you going? Why did you go to Mexico?"
It's a myth that the border is closed, US citizens and permanent residents are allowed to enter as usual.

The situation in Mexico is not better, it is far from that.

There are about 126 Million people that live in Mexico, yes, 126 MILLION! As of today, Mexico is only reporting 848 cases; WHY?

I have a couple of thoughts as of why:

First, the priority is putting food on the table. If they tell someone they are sick, they might lose their jobs or even worst for them; to be quarantine.

I would bet that even the people that have work visas in the US and are sick, I seriously doubt they would report themselves.

Tijuana and the rest of Mexico will be a mess for quite a while.
