When I returned without a passport they looked mine up in 5 minutes, I was in a back room, but I think I was in the back room so the people in line wouldn't have to look at me and my bleeding head.

If you have a photocopy of your passport, that can save you from waiting for hours. Once I forgot my passport, but I had a backup photo copy in my car, so the border agent was able to view the copy and run the passport and I could pass back without waiting or secondary into the USA. Good idea to have multiple copies so if you forget your passport, they can check you on the computer.

I have heard while they can't refuse you entrance when you go back through US customs, you would go to secondary and need to wait in line to prove your who you say you are. I can't speak from experience but have heard it's a bit of a hassle.

Going into Mexico I would say 1/3rd of the time I just walk right in, they don't ask for my ID card and I am a totally white gringo.

They were busy when I went through into Mexico the last time and they were letting every other person thru with out checking ID, just a way to manage the short line going into Tijuana on a Saturday afternoon when it was getting a little bit busier.

It is not worth going to Tijuana without a passport unless you are willing to risk being turned back. I know several people that have refused entry to Mexico because they did not have a passport.

Would crossing the boarder (walking) be an issue? I do not have my passport with me. Only my state ID. Any thoughts? Thanks guys and I look forward to hearing soon. So I can start planning my night.

You have to go to otay to walk in, from what others say. Mexico checks other spots. In otay mexico doesnt check not from what I've read. Comming back USA has to let you return no matter what the reason is you don't have a passport. If you look mexican you could walk through any borde into mexico, but you'd have to walk with confidence like you do that walk 5 days a week. Not be looking around reading signs

Mexican Border Patrol always ask for my passport before letting me into Mexico. Been like this for over a year now.

The Global Entry card already has RFID features in it.

We routinely cross in car in SENTRI lanes, wave the cards at the RF machine, have our IDs pulled up for CPB agent at the booth.

Also just to mention. After banging one of the street girls I asked her if I could pay her for a little time to help me with my Spanish. And I could help her a little with English. So we hung out at Azul's next to HongKong. When I tried to pay her after 30 minutes she pushed back half my money and wouldn't take it. Basically saying she enjoyed learning a bit more English as well.

Sofia was the girl. Totally cool. Really sweet girl who stands across street from HongKong on the south alley side of HK.

I love the way everything is up for a business deal in Zona Norte. Only limited by what you want to buy and what someone else is willing to sell for whatever amount of money!

However, after a quick search on google, it appears if you press the microphone button a few times, it will enable auto-translate so no more having to alternate pressing "English" or "Espanol. ".

Will go with a wingman for next weekend of fun, colorful Carnaval in this nice, clean, exciting tropical paradise with hot girls, good, spicy food, lots of fresh sea food ect.

Hotels situation will be tight that weekend. Talked to the reception guy at a motel right on the parade route and got a very good deal, way below the AirBnB and Trivago rates. Unlike the hot girls in La Zona, he could not speak 1 word in English and understood little or nada of my Spanish. Damn. The place has a large pool and large leafy parking lot, perfectly suitable for grilling and cooking outdoors in accordance with fine Mexico's traditions. I have grilled and cooked seafood many times in Ensenada. They showed pictures of guests grilling by the pool in the past. Can't be more Mexican than that!

Sr. Hans Solo calmly advised reception guy in formal diplomatic Spanish that, if he screws us out of the reservation, he will quickly get a laser saber or a Tequila cactus rammed up his brown ass.

Ensenada Carnaval is next week. Parties all over town the whole week but Sat and Sun Feb 22 -23 there will be floats and parades. There will be lots of nice, clean, fun, beautiful girls all over town partying, a great chance to have fun and meet nice, clean, real, beautiful Mexican sweethearts outside of La Zona!

Plan to go Friday afternoon, stay Friday and Saturday nights and return to Tijuana for more even intimate parties Sunday afternoon. We can book a AirBnB, bring some steaks and buy fresh seafood off the dock for some serious partying. Don't forget to bring your favorite drinks or stop at duty-free stores in San Ysidro to stock up premium brands at 30-50% discounts. A lots of sweet honeys would just loooooove to party with us.

Thanks for the information I had no idea that Ensenada has a carnaval. Maybe I'll go there next year. On the west coast, the big carnaval is in San Francisco (Mission district) always in the month of May.
