It seems there is a big difference in exchange rate stateside vs Mexico just over the line. I was at the cambio at McDonalds at trolley station. A guy in front of me (Mexican) bought about 3 bundles of 500note pesos. He needed to give his I'd to the lady. He said he was going to get a profit in Mexico! I saw that the rate was 11. 90 at Mc Ds and selling of pesos to dollars about 11. 60 at some spots in Tijuana. I don't think it is much of a profit but I guess if you have the time you could make some change. (?)

Well at that rate if you would buy a 1000 dollars worth of pesos you would make about 25 dollars. 1000 dollars X 11. 90 = 11, 900 pesos. 11, 900 pesos / 11. 60 = $1025. 86. To me that is hardly worth the effort. Besides, I think we all agree that you would have to be a complete and total idiot to walk into Tijuana carrying $1000. LOL

After a 5 year relationship and an engagement that was called off 2 months ago I am ready to get back to my old ways. I've been out of it for years now so please excuse me if I sound dumb for asking the following questions. Has anything changed since I last visited?

When did you last visit? If it was 5 years ago you're in for a treat on how much HK has changed. AB, not so much but they did expand the bar for what is mostly a worthless expansion. It is nice though.

Yeah. That's not to say you won't find something you like elsewhere or in the alley.

What's the going rate these days?

$60. They've been going up a bit though but $60 should still be the regular rate.

Had another great adventure in Candy Land. Met up with 2 great ISG members (GuitarreFreak and Artisttype). Did something that was not my normal routine and that was hang out in Las Chavelas and Nikki's. Never been to Nikki's but it's a really chill place to get away from the norm so I will be going again for sure. There are definetely some hidden gems if you just open your eyes.

So I'm reserved at the HK's Cascadas for the first part of my trip, Jacuzzi Suite May 21 thru 26. Plan on getting the VIP membership once I arrive.

I haven't reserved a room anywhere yet for my last few days May 26 thru 29. Wasn't sure if I might want to change to a hotel outside the zona, Ticuan or similiar, or maybe AB's Coahuila hotel.

Is it difficult to get a room somewhere on short notice as a walk-in? Or do you need to have you a room reserved ahead of time? Not sure how fast the hotels fill up down there, being memorial day weekend and everything.

I might have to split my time in a hotel outside the zona for a couple of days later in my stay if I can't get some of the girls from craigslist to come to cascadas.

There are some tours that are provided if you get bored. There is the Bull fight I think on Sundays. Check out the what to do there. I agree. 7 days is a long time. I stayed in Vegas a whole week. By Day 3, I wanted to leave because I was so burned out. Also, if you like to gamble you can stay at Hotel Amigo, there is a casino there.

If you want to maximize the number of girls that will go to your hotel, I recommend Cascadas. But, not all street girls will go there and not all bar girls will go there. I have been refused escort service at Cascadas, many of those girls consider zona norte to be below their station in life.

I sometimes find a cum boy to clean up my Cascadas room after I've had a girl with me. I think I've given them about $4 for that service and they make the room look perfect. Everybody seems happy with that. People have recently reported that the front desk charges extra for additional towels and you get only one. Last week I had 2 towels in the room and the cumboy tip gets me 2 fresh towels.

If you are spending the night at Cascadas, be sure to ask for a room on the top floor. Lower floors get very noisy. If your room is too hot, some rooms have a switch on the wall that turns on an A / C fan. Sometimes the A / C compressor is off and you need to ask at the desk to get it turned on.

Seven consecutive nights in Cascadas would be too much for me, it gets old after about 48 hours. I have business reason that I need to get back in the USA for a few hours every 2 or 3 days, so those nights I stay in San Ysidro or San Diego. The rest of the days I get a room at both Cascadas for fun and at Ticuan for sleeping. I've never had an escort problem at Ticuan. Ticuan costs just a little more money than the Best Western in San Ysidro and it is a far better hotel. If you reserve at Ticuan, it is best to do it on their website because the price is lower than reserving via telephone. My habit of having 2 hotels at all times costs extra money but it makes the trip much more enjoyable.

I have AT&T cell service and it works about 10% of the time in Ticuan and about 30% of the time in Cascadas. I've only made a few telephon calls usng the Mexican service and I don't remember it being too expensive. Ticuan has Wifi which isn't great but it is good enough for a few days.
