Well, if you are really scared and wouldn't be comfortable enough to sleep, then you shouldn't get a room in Tijuana. I mean, it really is as safe as any other city, but you can't help your feelings. If you are really worried about security, why not get a nice hotel in Tijuana away from the zona? Or are you one of those guys who believes that all of Tijuana is narco-traffickers and smugglers and there are gunfights in the streets? If you do need a room in the US, for god's sake don't go all the way to San Diego. San Ysidro or even Chula Vista are far closer to the border and much cheaper. The last thing you want is to waste three hours every day going back and forth from your hotel.

The hassle of going back and forth would really ruin my trip. Not to mention the added cost. Just my luck I'd end up ready to go back to the hotel and sleep and find myself in a two-hour line at the border. I've stayed overnight and didn't have any trouble. I wasn't even bothered by the noise.

I don't know what you mean by the sentri line multiply by two times. If you have a SENTRI card the line is a lot faster, but unless you make the trip a lot it won't really be worth getting a SENTRI card.

I used to stay at casadas but have been staying at Hotel Real Del Rio. Its very nice and very quiete. The area is more upscale than that of the zona. I would recommend this place if you were to stay overnight. Plus, its escort friendly. I did what you did a few times and it just more of a waste of time for me. There is actually a nice pool hall and a very upscale nightclub. If you want to avoid the long lines, park at the Otay Mesa line. The border is 5 miles away from San Ysidro but there is very little waite time. Cost of a cab how ever is $15 but parking is $5 and some times you can find free spots. But if you factor in time and your pay, its a waste and I would rather enjoy staying a night and relaxing. Then take a cab to the zone.

I never said I was "Really Scared" don't blow it out of proportion, I've been overnight in Tijuana but not in the zona.

Now you giving this border town too much credit and NO it's not like any other city, I haven't yet seen bodies hanging from bridges where I live or heads in bags.

I know where San Diego is and I also know there's chula Vista and San Ysidro, I live in SoCal and own a Thomas Guide since the 1980s I also check mapquest or google map no I don't have a GPS but I've been all the way down to San Quintin, I'm not a tourist from Japan LOL!

Maybe you think I'm a newbie but no I'm not I should've add in my topic that I've been going to Tijuana for 17 years I know my way around but never slept at a hotel in the zona roja.

I never like the idea of staying overnight in the zona hotels like the cascades or the coahuila. Besides the noise I don't feel it is a good safe place to sleep, I am aware of federales raid these hotels from time to time and I'm not too crazy about waking up with a pointed barrel of an M15. I recommend staying at the Rodeway Inn in San Ysidro, it is the closest decent motel to where you enter Tijuana, and re-enter the USA, I also like the accomodations at the Travelodge, but now that they have moved the entry into Tijuana, it no longer makes sense to stay there, as it is quite the walking distance from both where you enter Tijuana and re-enter the USA Like you, I am paranoid about my motel room getting robbed. If it happens in Tijuana, I'm sh*t out of luck, but if it happens in San Ysidro, I can call the cops and something might be done about it. You should have no problem waiting to re-enter the USA, if you return at a late enough hour. After midnight is best.

You are a "novio" when you are in the zona (or on your way to visit). Communication seems to surround when are you comming to meet me in Tijuana. Also I know the girls have a network that they use (I saw it myself) In fact I was screwing my Amiga (novia) and she said "oh shit hold on" and got on the phone to tell her amiga SG that her 'novio" (she said that term) was in the zona. First I said "what the fuck- do this on your time!" Then I asked if it was her (real) novio or her regular customer- and she said" her regular" and wanted to let her know she might want to contact him. (I've had this happen to me also) Most of the games they play are well calculated and as long as you resign yourself that it is a "business angle" the better it will be for you. Take advantage of the situation to get Good service and GFE. Play along but beware there are a lot of eyes watching if you frequent the zona. Make believe relationships are JUST that. Try not to let them PLAY YOU.

I agree, and also I would like to say that been in a serious relation with a Tijuana girl can be dangerous if you're with the wrong girl, like you said "there are a lot of eyes watching if you frequent the zona" some of those eyes are the padrotes or pimps these are dangerous people and if they see you trying to take his business by dating his girls they might set you up with the girl your dating try to rob you or beat you up. Also bar owner's don't like when some smart ass comes and takes one of his girls away from the bar. I've seen some deported thugs hiding around buildings just a few feet from the bars and talking to the street girls, so you don't know for sure who your dating.

It's a small world, LOL I used to live in beautiful Lake Tahoe back in the mid 80s, I was there for 5 years shoveling up to 6 feet of snow, driving on hwy50 sideways and spinning in circles every time I hit black ice. That's How I became a real driver, there were no antilock brakes either. I loved that place.

I know there were ranches in Reno, Carson City area but back then I was very young and didn't have a college degree in mongering yet.

Anyway, getting in a serious relation with these girls it's very complicated, a bad idea and it usually won't last if you're not planning to move with her permanently, I know most of them will still work the clubs for business as usual and as many guys they can get while your back in the states.

Things appeared to be rather slow (IMHO) considering a biased perception of NYE.

However, I have heard before (both extremes) that either things get really busy, or really un-busy. Seems that most mexicans opt to spend time with families on special occasions, NYE included.
