Non-SENTRI vehicle lanes are backed up for hours on Sundays. If you cross back in the early mornings, like 3 am or so, there won't be too much of a line. But if all you care about is the Zona Norte, walk across and use taxi / Uber.

With the VIP card if you want to stay in a hotel in the Zona, there's no better deal than HK. If you get your own overnight room, you do not have to pay to bring up any girls-- unless that's changed recently.

What is your plan? If you want to party in the Zona and bang street girls and HK chicks, no. If you want to do anything with outcall sessions like escorts and stuff like that, Hotel Ticuan is the best way to go.

Club girls, in general, won't leave their club during their shifts unless you pay a massive fee. I plan on being there 2 nights. VIP card any different than a regular patron visit?

Anyone going to the Zona for multiple nights the first time should just stick to the big 3 and get a room at Cascadas, and leave their car on the US side in a parking lot. Tijuana is generally safe, especially in the area immediately around Hong Kong, but that doesn't mean your ass is not going to get mugged or rolled by cops if they think they can shake your ass down.

Crossing in with a car takes so friggin' long ... Crossing back, even with Sentri, can take infinitely long.

And, FWIW, I've never heard any of my friends complaining about "infinitely long" waits when they're crossing northbound with SENTRI, unless you consider 15 minutes to be infinite.

I drive in about once a week, and the only delay I ever see is during the evening rush hour. At 1:00 PM on a weekday, there is never any delay, unless the customs officers want a closer look at what's in my SUV.

The last time I was pulled into secondary, I was hauling three 60-inch TVs. I had to pay 500 pesos import duty and was delayed by about 15-20 minutes.

If your car has nothing but personal effects, even if they do pull you in to secondary inspection, you will be on your way in two minutes.

Really, really? I will drive if I've going onwards to somewhere else. Crossing in with a car takes so friggin' long (I will cross on my bike, because I just zoom to the head of the line like all the locals). Crossing back, even with Sentri, can take infinitely long. I rarely ever travel exclusively to monger. In general, I'm already there doing something and fit a few sessions into my schedule. Unless you've got Sentri or GE, there's 0 reason to drive across to just hang out in the Zona for a night. It's a major liability.

I had a question but wasn't sure where to ask it. Did girls lower their rates during the 2008/2009 recession? I know some of you were around back then. Curious to know what happened to the sex work industry during the last recession.

The only time I remember rates going down or staying down was after 9/11. Tijuana turned into a ghost town in the tourist areas and those of us that still showed up were treated great. At that time CC was my favorite bar. Before 9/11 they had some girls trying to get guys for $80 when normal price was $60. After 9/11 they would be very happy with $60 and you could probably get many for less.

As another poster mentioned that this recession is different due to the inflation that is going with it. Prices on everything will be going up more next year so I'd bet on girls trying to actually raise prices instead of lowering prices.

I'd say there were more deals to be had simply because there were more girls around and the freelancers were in full swing. You could always get a $20 CIM / BBBJ from one of the freelancers to balance the books until the next session. Girls will always try to use an excuse to raise the prices. You just need to learn how to negotiate and most importantly WALK AWAY when they start uttering nonsense rules / prices.

Dang $20 BBBJ sounds nice. I am learning that walking away and not thinking with the small head down low is a good practice.

Wasn't around much then but did want to point out that this is probably much more of a unique situation then we had back then. This time around we're dealing not only with a recession but historic inflation, as well as still being in the midst of a pandemic. All three still have significant effects on the Zona Norte economy.

Yeah it seems like the economy nowadays is closer to the 1970's then 2008. Maybe some super old mongers can chime in who were here in 1970's? Haha.
