I agree. There's been past stories of strip clubs attacked in Mexico and deaths. In other parts Mexico few years ago now. In this situation, cartel is literally telling people, they don't want to hurt anyone, but they are closing the city down to some degree. Better to to respect that, let them feel like they are closing the city down, placate them, and wait to see if Mexico releases their amigos in prison to make things go back to the normal safe Tijuana we all know.
I completely disagree. You need strong leadership and not cowards that will be controlled by organized crime.
I am not going to Tijuana any time soon. If the Cartel are pulling cars over at gun point and burning cars I take that a good reason to stay de fuck away. The Cartel never play games and do not tolerate any disrespect.

Any one throw caution to the wind and know first hand if any of the big 3 clubs (HK, AB, CC) are operating today? HK is posting on their social media accounts that they're open and operating, but they were doing that since yesterday. I've heard from others that Zona Norte was effectively shutdown cause of the ongoing concerns of violence.
Now, late Sunday in the evening I got a message from chica who works in HK that everything is normal in HK. I don't know other clubs.

Majority of the bars, clubs, and hotels have shuttles from the border. Even some doctors and dentists offer rides to and from border. They will be like vultures on you to get a cab or ride once you cross the border, but say no gracias and they leave you alone. Act like you know what you're doing and walk with a purpose and nobody should f with you. It is universal around the world in any destination you go visit. They all want tourists money and if you're going to do HK then take their shuttle, Adelitas, etc. Some hotels even offer shuttle service if you coordinate with them beforehand.
You shouldn't be fearful just because some mongers get their a $$ handed to them on the daily on this forum. Majority probably don't post their good times, but I've been living in Tijuana for past year and been going to Mexico since 2005. Never heard a gunshot, seen dead bodies in streets, or anything crazy. I've seen some crazy shit in Las Vegas, Atlanta, New Orleans, Afghanistan, Iraq, etc. As long as you're not into drugs, driving through narco stash houses, etc. , then you should be golden. You may get hit with cross fire if gang activity heats up, but could happen anywhere. I know Tulum and Cancun had reports where they were doing a shootout during breakfast and some were even on jetskis. I call that a true adrenaline rush if you ever need one. Have fun and stay safe!
I was boogie boarding in Cali and I saw a fin in the water by the wave I was waiting for. I though the worst and figured I would be lunch and then the dolphin jumped out completely and I was cooolll. Sometimes your mind can manufacture more than what's happening. Have fun.
I've only been once to Tijuana and did not get around to some of the things I'd like to experience.
Can anyone recommend a massage parlor that would offer a 90 minute to 2 HR 4-hand massage (preferred)? Or even a 2-hand massage? Happy endings not a critical criteria, but it would be good to know if they did it, too.
Positive recommendations welcomed. Thanks.
In general I have found the massage therapists in Tijuana to be lazy and persistent in asking for tips without paying much attention to the details at hand. There have been a few exceptions but in the long run it wasn't worth the $$ for me.
In all fairness though they get almost nothing from the business they work for by doing the massage so their income really depends on the tip.

Make friends with a taxi driver in Tijuana. Ask for his number so he can be waiting for you when you arrive. I usually pay an extra $1 or 2 above normal rates but it is worth it to me.
BUILD relations with locals if you plan on returning often.

I have been going down there for years, always have taken a cab to Velario because I couldn't do anything else, that hotel does not provide a shuttle. I was just trying to get some other opinions on what to do.
A US ID will get you back in US. Pay a bribe to get into Mexico if they stop you for documents.
Thanks for everyone's feedback on the no-passport question. I know it's brought up a bunch of times but good to get a scope of what's going on currently. Will see if he wants to give it a go with out having one.
