Ok this report is definitely coming from a rookie experience. I had just come out of Hong Kong from hooking up with a girl read the report here http://www.internationalsexguide.inf...postcount=1017 . State what you want out of your hotel like location, price, security, comfort level and maybe someone can help you with things you may have not thought about yet. Are you planning on seeing anything in Tijuana? If you are planning to visit the zona, visit first during the daytime while it is slow. This way you can walk all through the clubs and see what is there before the crowds show up. This will add to your comfort level at night because you will know the lay of the land. The zona does not seem as scary during the day light hours. Be sure to read and get the map at.

That’s odd; I got the idea from a gal out of HK.

Some mongers like to stay in a hotel outside of Zona Norte and some like to stay in a hotel in the Zona. I like the Cascadas, next to HK. If you decide to stay there be sure that your room is not too close to the club, the music goes all night. Also I take a daypack with my monger essentials for the overnights in hotels of this caliber. It includes my own soap, shampoo, and bath towel, change of clothes, flavored lube and flavored condoms, (better for BJs ). Outside the Zona, Villa de Zaragosa is good, clean and safe.

Flying into TIJ on a commercial airline would mean flying through Guadalajara, Monterrey, Mexico City or some other city in Mexico since there are no commercial flights to the US. So it would take longer than a flight from SFO and cost a ton more than flying on one of the zillion flights daily between San Diego and the Bay Area.

edited to add: I take that back, Volaris will offer a nonstop from Oakland to Tijuana starting August 28th. On the dates I plugged in for some random dates in September, the lowest price I could find was $240 (hand luggage only, extra for checked bags). It is still going to be cheaper and you'll have more options to fly into San Diego and take a taxi and/or the trolley.

Exactly there is some scenery but with the traffic you will be watching cars. Could you imagine catching the beginning of rush hour WOW. Think about the time he would have to leave in order to miss it completely.

Commuter flights within California are cheaper and which airport would you want to leave some luggage at the airport lockers ?

According to Google maps the drive from San Francisco to Tijuana is almost an 8 hour drive. I'm not sure about that cause I used to work with some guys that lived in San Jose and they told me that their drive from San Jose to L.A. was already 8 hours. And keep in mind that San Jose is closer to L.A. than San Fran. And to get to Tj from L.A. it's at least another 2 hours.

So if they are telling the truth then a drive from San Francisco to Tijuana would could easily be over 10 hours and that's not including driving through traffic. So driving would be a bad idea.

I find it funny that if you spend a day driving, you're exhausted afterwards even though you spent the whole day sitting down. I remember my 2 hour drives from L.A. to tj, I would be a bit tired afterwards. Can't even imagine what it would be like from an 8 hour drive.

I do not know your situation but if you are going solo even two people, Take a plane to San Diego, store your things in a locker,taxi or walk to trolley and trolley to the border.

You are talking about a 500 mile drive with the last 200 miles being fucked up California traffic (10 plus hours). Spending 4-5 days car rental fees, 2 tanks of fuel and 2-3 days parking lot fees and wasting a day traveling to be worn out when you get there. Thats one way.

Seems to me that a plane is cheaper and faster. That will give you more time to enjoy TJ.

Flights are 1.5 hrs long and round trip is around $120. You can not just rent a car for that price.
