My wingman and I had planned to go down for an afternoon treat this week but it can wait. This flu is probably a lot more widespread than they are saying and these girls seem pretty desperate to make a buck. Infecting colleagues or clients is probably not a big concern for them.
I've canceled all trips to South of the Border until further notice. Aside from the threat of the flu, our border closes if we hit stage 6 (we're currently at 4). And as far as I know, there is a medication shortage in Mexico. It's very bad luck to be on the wrong side of the border if we hit stage 6.

Actually, I wouldn't be surprise if the clubs temporarily close for a couple of weeks. Anyone knows whether the clubs are still open?

I feel really bad for the ladies. They have to earn a living. Plus they're on the wrong side of the border where medication is scarce.

    Border Closing

On the news today, there was talk about the US may close the US/Mexican border due to the flu out break.

My trip down in June now is on hold.

That swine flu is some serious stuff.

I've read that the border guards will ask you more questions and look out for flu symptoms upon entry to the USA Has anyone noticed any difference in the line length or the time it takes to cross the border?

I have been going every other week, but this is the first time I'm thinking of staying away.
The morning commute was normal, but the border patrol lady gave me a hard time about bringing back pork tamales, and misquoted the death toll of the virus. She said that 2000 people had died and that I would be crazy to eat pork. I had the newspaper in my lap and pointed to where it said 103 people were dead, none in Baja California, and said, "wow, that is a lot higher than I thought". Stupid lady then told me it has been all over Fox News and that I should be paying attention. But she let me take my tamales across anyway.

I don't think there is much to worry about in the big clubs. You should get one of those cool surgical masks, and avoid being next to people coughing a lot. The HK will send girls that are sick home for the day, and I would suspect the girls will avoid sick mongers. Shows they are looking out for it, and don't want it to interfere with business.

I just want to wear a surgical mask everywhere I go, and cast a condescending eye on anyone that coughs near me.

the more people around you the bigger the chances of getting the flu.
No joke, wash your hands after touching door knobs, taxi cabs, best yet wait at home until this shit clears, it should be over in a month or so.

I am going down tomorrow afternoon. I will take some Airborne germ killer tonight and tomorrow morning. Also, when I am in TJ I also carry around some disinfectant wipes in a plastic bag. I wipe myself off completely after a session with a girl.

I also wipe off my face and hands after i get out of TJ. Then I shower when I get home.

I also agree that this doesn't look like anything worth winning an award. Someone should register to that site and tell him off about recording the girls. CJ, I know that cameras are not allowed in the bars but what about outside the bars? There should be some kind of law in effect for that. Protection for the girls and mongers.
There is an unwritten rule that cameras should not be used in the Zona. There are private persons there working, private mongers there and nobody wants to be on camera. The girls want to hide their identities for the same obvious reasons mongers do.

Some people believe however that none of that really matters and if there is a buck to be made, then to hell with the privacy of others. That's what is going on here because if anyone were to actually "document" the zona, mongering would be a small part of the picture.

i realize it's impossible to predict traffic in advance, but i'd appreciate a ballpark estimate on how long this drive will take.
9am on a monday morning, plan at least 5 hours. you are going to hit traffic all the way there.

make sure to take the 73 toll road through oc (get on just north of san juan capistrano and you'll meet back up with the 405 by costa mesa/uc irvine), that will shave off about 10 miles and a whole hell of a lot of traffic, but seriously, that is a miserable drive at that hour.

realistically, i would get up as early as you can to do that drive because traffic in southern california is a nightmare, and you are going right into the heart of the beast.

i would not expect to be driving full speed for much of that distance.

If the wind is blowing the right direction then it would be about 2 1/2 hours.
