Yes the dollar is real strong against the peso right now, sadly due to the US economic crisis as Mexico is the US number one exporter.

I was just in TJ the other day and the exchange rate is in the highs 1300's to the dollar, but depending where you go, you get a little bit less, something like in the 1330's, and then when you want to change it back again into dollars, you get high 1200's, so it's best to use up everything you get, and perhaps use the ATMs to get the best rates of exchange.

For example I have done about 4 street girls my last few trips and all of them accepted my 200 pesos( around $15 dollars) even if they try to up sell me for another $5 dollars, I give them 50 pesos( about $3.50)

I did a BG for 600 pesos last trip again about $45 dollars if you were using dollars. Now some of the girls won't go for this, they know you're getting a deal, and if anybody deserves a deal, it's them, so they will insist on dollars, or instead of 600 pesos perhaps 800 pesos. For these girls, perhaps you can split the difference and make it 700 pesos and you both come out ahead?

Same thing with taxi driver. They don't want to turn on the meter, and charge you $5 dollars.You instead of arguing take out 50 pesos, give it to them, and for you it's really about $3.50 dollars.

So yes it's a great advantage to exchange your dollars for pesos....you'll be able to take advantage of the exchange rate most of the time, but not always. Hong Kong is one bar that doesn't give a shit if you use pesos, they will just charge you more pesos, but most places and most girls you willl get a better deal using pesos.

I read lot of reports mention payments in U.S. dollars like the above... is that true? or is it in peso converted to USD? Do I need to have peso or my greenback is good?

Most pricing is in dollars because that is what mongers bring across. Right now, the dollar is 12.50 pesos or thereabouts so it's a good idea to negotiate and pay in pesos, you could save a few bucks here and there but at the end of the day, there is no HUGE savings.

You might also find that the girl wants nothing to do with pesos, she'll negotiate in dollars.

If you're no good with Spanish or don't understand the currency then stick to dollars. (gold) When the dollar gets to 15 pesos (Plata) then deal in pesos for sure.

As soon as I left HK I did not get to far I was approached by a nice looking Street girl named Monica. Needless to say I never made it to Adelita's I headed to the cascade with her $20 for her $5.50 for the room. Ihad a good experience with her I must say the girls on the street are getting better at pleasing you.

All in all it was A great trip 2 pops lots of beer and I spent well under $100. I did catch a $5 cab to the border I don't think it is to safe to take the walk at night.

The week before Christmas is when the girls leave for vacation. Don't expect price breaks from the girls who stay behind. They know well the economic principles of supply and demand.

Still, take your time and enjoy. You will notice a dramatic drop in activity.

You have to be patient and willing to shop a little harder in December. Many of the chicas head home for the holidays and do not return until Jan or Feb

So you get more of the local girls. Pickings get a bit slimmer. But their is ALWAYS something to do. I think the only day of the year that Hong Kongs or Adelitas is closed is Christmas day/eve.

You just need to show patience.

It was pretty thin last night in Hong Kongs. I went to see my regular girl and glad she was their, cause pickings were slim.

I did drop my jaw at a SG last night while eating a Carne Asada Casadea at the corner of the Alley. OMG! Even the hombre at the stand was drolling.

I'm headed down to TJ again in December and i'm looking to try a new hotel on the strip. I always stay at the hacienda de santiago because its clean, and safe(I travel alone), yet pretty close to all the action. I'm looking for something safe/clean, but right on callejon in the middle of the action. The idea of walking out the front door 5 steps and see the SG's sounds great to me. Any info/pricing would be greatly appreciated.

Friday nights are usually always one of the lightest to cross the border. I've driven straight into an open window on Fridays around 11 pm.

It was fun. They had all kinds of kids dressed up walking the Zona and Revolution. I got $5 worth of pesos and gave them out to the younger kids.
