After lurking on here for a while it seems like Tijuana has a lot of bullshit associated with it as well as general safety concerns. Everyone keeps saying how HongKong keeps upping prices and the service is inconsistent, and the street walkers seem really sketchy. I live in the Northeast, is there any reason to go here? Any other alternatives that I can go to?

Lets put it this way anything East is a shithole, Tijuana is Heaven.

Compared to what? I walk all over the city.

Do you walk north of Coahuila on Constitucion, past Chicago Club? How far west down Coahuila do you walk? East of Constitucion on Coahuila is sketchy, too. Do you go to any of these places at night? Bodies are turning up all the time on Mutualismo. The area surrounding the main clubs is no place for a newbie, especially after dark. You can't say the same for most of Revolucion between Primera and Octava, or most of Zona Rio or Chapu.

I usually walk to the Zona if it is during the day or early evening. The taxi vans go by 4th & Revolucion. You still have to walk about 4 blocks to the Zona. So you don't save much time by taking the taxi vans.

Yup the bus from the border to revolucion only costs like 50/75 cents or 10/15 pesos I believe. I do that once in a while if I don't want to wait for the HK vehicles. You can also get off 1 block west of revolucion and walk straight down a couple blocks to the zona. Never had a problem no matter the time of day.

I took a local bus once from the border to the zona. I was with a buddy who lives in San Diego, so he knew the lay of the land and is cheap. I think he paid 20 pesos for each one of us, if I remember correctly.

Its 10 pesos most of the time but 15 pesos in the later evening around 7 or 8 pm maybe. But they would be happy with a dollar at both times but you won't get change. The bus is your opportunity to meet real Mexican woman who are way more friendly than American woman in cities like san Diego. You may get a woman to go to dinner and her apartment and not have a chance to spend more than 30 dollars a day in Tijuana.

I've recently found out about taking a bus from the border to El Centro. Can't remember the cost but it was pretty cheap. You pick it up close to the taxi line up just past the turnstiles.

La Zona's streets around the bar block are pretty tame. On weekends lots of people are on the street after 2 -3 AM. Have not heard of any crimes recently. I feel safer around La Zona's bar block than in downtown LOS Angeles, because there are always people around with policia and army patrols on foot and on trucks.

Sunday afternoon last week, policia was trying to arrest a drug dealer on Constitucion Av. The guy ran away so policia shot him in the leg. He was laying flat on the sidewalk right in front of bar Malquerid while AMT treated him. Just stay way away from drug dealers on the streets, men and women who mumble "cuanto, cuanto " to be safe.

Tijuana street girls are nice and gentle, not nasty like US street girls, some look very hot. The hotels make sure they don't rob or steal from clients. Couple guys with high sex drive would bag 4 or 5 street girls a night, spending $150-200. Bar girls would cost $700-800.

La Zona is convenient and fairly safe, where you can bag 5 girls a night in between partying with hot girls in HK without breaking your bank, pretty good deal.

If you're flying in from the East Coast, I doubt Tijuana is worth the trip. Central and South America are generally a lot easier to reach. Tijuana is easy to visit if you live in SoCal or vicinity, so it's easy to overlook the problems.

Tijuana's red-light district is very small (just a couple of square blocks), surrounded by a very dangerous neighborhood. The bars are all clip joints to one degree or another, and they can smell a newbie a mile away. That's not to say you can't have fun, but there is a learning curve.

Some people say that HK is the best bar in the world. Well, the world is a big place, and there are better bars. It may be the best bar of its kind in Mexico, depending on your taste.

Prices have been rising very rapidly. Frankly, I don't think $100 for 30 minutes, plus $10/ drink lady drinks, plus $5 beers, plus $30/30 minute rooms is any bargain, and if one has to factor in airfare and lodging I think one can find better values elsewhere..

Phordphan makes some good arguments here. If your flying from the northwest I still think Tijuana is worth a look as it's a quick flight down. And flying to Asia or Europe is quite expensive.

Is there any reason to go there? YES. There are hundreds of them. HongKong is unique. Thousands fly to San Diego just to cross the border to visit this bar. Don't mistake the whiners on the forum for just how good this bar is. I have been to Bangkok, Costa Rica and other bars where you can take the hooker out of the bar and HongKong is very unique. The shear number of women in that bar on any Friday / Saturday night is staggering. The idea that for a $10 drink I can talk a bit to a girl that's a 9 or 10, feel her tits. Her ass. And she is groping me at the same time. Yes there are some 7's, 8's as well. The music in the place is kick ass. The girls dance on stage and there is a soapy show in the back that is fun to watch and for a buck you can stick your finger up a girls sweet soft ****.

Now take in the whole area and there are 3 other bars you can also check out where there are a few hot girls but not as many as Hong Kong.

Because it's all legal you don't need to look over your shoulder like you would in the US at other bars.

All I can say is you need to experience this place. If you make it down and feel more comfortable going into Mexico with a bro just shoot me a message as I live in San Diego and have taken many new folks to the place.

The Fairfield and Marriott area is about 5-7 miles South of Zona Norte. There are no sexual activities around that area.

It would be very difficult for new guys to convince girls from Zona Norte to go there, even OTC. Some escorts will go to the Fairfield, but reception will check IDs and dress code ect. Girls wearing HK's hoes costumes are likely denied entries.

You're saying that like it's something to be proud of. I walk from the trolley to Ticuan to save $5. Biggest danger is getting hit by a car. Lot of empty stores, kind of desolate, mostly deserted, but I don't feel it is dangerous.

Walking to the Zona is fairly safe during the day time. & early evening. I usually walk to the during day & early evening unless the weather is really hot. It is always a smart idea to look to see who is walking behind you in Tijuana. At night I take the Uber or taxi van back to the border.

Well so do I. I even walk to HK from the border. But it's still not a great neighborhood still LOL. It's still a sketchy area and you still got to be self aware of your surroundings. Many other cities you can walk around everywhere without having to worry about anything.

What is your goal? Is it strictly sex? I believe nyc has decriminalized sex industry. People with money would never leave Manhattan because there's probably 4000 working girls that will show up at your Manhattan hotel who will look as good as the top 10% of Hong Kong girls. There's probably another 20 to 30 k girls in this industry in nyc and its suburbs. Then you have flushing queens the safest part of NYC. Its like Zona Norte. Very much feels like foreign country, 90% Asian, nice clean cheap 70 to 80 dollar hotels steps from all the massage and sex houses. I stopped paying when they stopped taking 80, but I'm sure 120 would get it done. Last night, at HK, Adelitas. Girls I bought drinks from that were not beautiful, by any means, wanted 120 or 200 for the hour. If flushing had a strip bar, it would be more fun than Zona Norte.
