I have not been to TJ in over a year but when I went in the past few years I always walked to/from the Zona and felt safe alone at any time of the day or late at night. Never had a problem walking back to the border except for getting stopped and searched a lot. Is the situation the same now days? All this talk about recent violence makes me worry a little. Yes, I'm a cheapskate and I don't want to pay an extra $5 + $5 for taxi fares every night I go there.

While in San Diego over the weekend, I stayed at the Days Inn in Chula Vista (as recommended in the BOT FAQ.) Nice hotel, big rooms with a king-size bed for me, lots of restaurants nearby, and not too far a drive to the border.

I have been to TJ 6 times but I only used team juanita (yes that one). Dulce was the ultimate PSE but my fav is Mia ( who has retired I think) She is a combination of dirty and innocence that I haven't seen for a while. I also tried Xiomara who was fun but not as fun as the other 2.

Anyway I am off to La Zona to reedeem myself so I appreciate any help.

As far as a map is concerned, I'll look for one for you if you PM me with an email address that I can send it to. You'll find that when you get there, you really won't need it. ONce you get there, you'll see that everything is in one tight area and you won't want to be walking around outside the area for any reason. Stick to the bars and the Alley for now. You won't have trouble finding your way around.

If you read Brocton's guide, you will read everything pertinent.

If you do a google search on Zona Norte Map you can probably find one of the maps online.

Basically the 3 main places AB, CC, and HK are all very close. Take a taxi to Adelitas, and from there, you can ask any of the other mongers where one of the other clubs are. AB (Calle Coahuila) is the only place that's busy during the day, HK is OK. But the best selections are generally in the evening at all 3. The SG's are in the sidestreet / alley (Callejon Coahuila) that's directly behind Adelitas, also HK is located there as well.

So as you step out of AB, make a right, go to the intersection. To the left is CC (opposite side of the street), to get to the SG's make a right and then another right onto Callejon Coahuila.

Pump, not sure if these are the same guys but about a couple of years ago I met these 2-3 guys who said they had an arrangement with the Tecate Bar owner (I think on 1st, just outside of SG territory). Basically, the place was empty and unused and they proposed to that owner they were going to get American money to remodel the place and turn it into a monger hang out, with monthly dues. They'd solicite non-pros to come and hang out with the members, etc.

Seemed like a decent idea, but really they needed a critical mass of about 50 consistent members. And with AB, CC, and HK so close by, logistically, it would be hard to get people from a financial standpoint to choose to spend their dollars at that Tecate bar, unless there was a strong social bond between members.

Perhaps it's these same guys that have opted for a different strategy to build a rival to AB, CC, and HK by either providing high value or quality girls to work for them. Either way, those 2-3 guys I met had no experience running a club, had no capital that seemed apparent, and were basically looking for an angel investor to come in and give them money to run with.

Perhaps when times were real good, it might have made some sense, but there's less customers crossing the border these days (perhaps due to the violence) and the whole passport issue will cut traffic as well.

Makes a lot more sense to run something inhouse in the US, if it can stay under the radar.

LAND AND SEA TRAVEL
The following summarizes information available on the Department of Homeland Security’s website.

* JANUARY 31, 2008
U.S. and Canadian citizens will need to present either a WHTI-compliant document, or a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, plus proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate. DHS also proposes to begin alternative procedures for U.S. and Canadian children at that time.

* LATER
At a later date, to be determined, the departments will implement the full requirements of the land and sea phase of WHTI. The proposed rules require most U.S. citizens entering the United States at sea or land ports of entry to have either a U.S. passport; a U.S. passport card; a trusted traveler card such as NEXUS, FAST, or SENTRI; a valid Merchant Mariner Document (MMD) when traveling in conjunction with official maritime business; or a valid U.S. Military identification card when traveling on official orders.

Note: The passport requirement does NOT apply to U.S. citizens traveling to or returning directly from a U.S. territory.

U.S. PASSPORT AND OTHER TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

* U.S. Passport: U.S. citizens may present a valid U.S. passport when traveling via air, land or sea between the U.S. and the aforementioned Western Hemisphere countries.
* The Passport Card: U.S. citizens may begin applying in advance for this new, limited-use, wallet-size passport card beginning February 1, 2008. We expect cards will be available and mailed to applicants in spring 2008. When available it will only be valid for land and sea travel between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean region, and Bermuda.
* Other Accepted Travel Documents: SENTRI, NEXUS, FAST and the U.S. Coast Guard Mariner Document. So as of Jan. 31st, 2008, you will need either your passport OR your driver license and your birth certificate to cross the border. Not a passport AND your drivers license. You only need two forms of ID only if you do not have a passport.

For everybodys info the U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security will be monitoring pass ports after Jan. 31,2008.

You will need 2 forms of I.D. the passport and your Drivers I.D. not so sure of Birth certificate, but just be prepared.

You Can probably expect longer lines.

I've had guys tell me, "but I can't, I am busy working/have no time". WTF? So you have time to go to the zona and bang hookers but no time to get apply for a passport? ! ? ! IMO it's just being lazy.

I've had a passport since I was 14, later lost it at the casino in San Diego Took less than 30 minutes to go apply for a replacement.

Right on Nero X. Guys, just go to usps.com, click on "All Prodcts & Services", then down to passports. They've even got a locator to the closest PO that issues passports (Most of them will take your photos there), a downloadable Passport Application Form and even a link to the Department of State for those of you that are still confused. The process took me less than 30 minutes, but the time it takes for them to mail them to you is getting backed up, So get off your butts and do it now unless you want to wait and pay them an extra $60 bucks or so that they charge you for rush service.
