On Monday, State Department and DHS announced its design for the new border card -- a special wallet sized passport -- that can be used at the land/sea crossings only. Details on how to get the card will be available this spring.

This card will be more convenient than the full sized passport and can help you protect your passport from getting damaged when you're traveling to the Mexican/Canadian border. However, it will probably take several months to get the program started so using your birth certificate or a regular starting in February will probably be the best.

Then again, I'm betting the birth certificate requirement will be suspended/canceled.

    Thanks Quack...

I got an e-mail from someone saying the same thing. 4 hours Friday and Saturday and at least 8 hours or overnight the rest of the week. I will be going there at least once and get the exact info. If you guys are interested, I'll take some pics too.

    Happy New Year to all!

    Passport requirements

I see in some other posts that a passport is not going to be required after Jan. 1. Is this true? Does anybody have a link to the Feds' web site with this info? (Cuz I'm too friggin' lazy to look).

I need to send my passport off to get more pages, and I don't know how long that'll take. I hate to put off a visit to TJ while waiting for the PP, and, now, maybe I won't have to.

The last visit, I asked the border guy about the '08 requirements, but he was non-commital. I'm not sure what we pay these guys to do, but finding evil people crossing the border to do evil things, doesn't appear to be one of them. Maybe the chairs in the border station need to be kept warm?

    almost forgot

Also, about the question earlier about La Mansion. I believe the 4 hour limit, unless changed recently, only applies on Fridays and Saturday. The rest of the week for the same price, you can have the room for 8 hours. It is more expensive but the rooms are very nice and clean. They also have room service. Hope this helps.

    Dec 31

Was down in Tj this past Sunday the 30th. I got there late, around 7:00 p.m.. Not only was I late, I forgot the bring my pesos from my last trip. Around mx$2,000.

I had about $60.00 usd in my wallet but knew it wouldn't last too long. Even though it was dark, I walked to Revolution ave. I went to the hsbc bank to get some pesos. Not sure if it was because it was a Sunday, or it was just out of money, but both atms were not working.

I then went to the banamex on 2nd street. There were two atms there, but only one was working. There were a couple of shady characters in line so I decided to find another atm. I walked to two banks near 4th and 5th street, but they both had lines and walked to the other hsbc just past 6th street. Finally, no line. The reason there was no line, the doors to the atms were locked. I guess this branch is not 24 hours.

Now what to do? I go back to Revolution and walk to Sanborns, I believe it is on the corner of 7th and Rev.. But then again, it might have been 8th street. As I was walking, I notice that Las Pulgas was open. I thought I had read that it had closed down. At least on this night, it was open.

I get to Sanborns and wouldn't you know it. Both atm there are not working. Somthing about a connection. I'am thinking, this is not my day, maybe I will just go back home. As I'am walking heading towards the arch, I past by the Jai Alai ( sp ) and see an atm open in a booth. I go in and surprise, I was able to get money out. Now a happy camper, I set off for the zona.

On the way there, I past by viva max. I read the post about this place, knowing it was legit, a message sounded great. The massage I got was 45 minutes for $25.00 usd. It was wonderful. The name of my masseuse was Karin. Very cute and gave a great massage. I gave her a mx $100.00 tip. Well worth the money. I think this will be a regular stop on all future visits.

From there I walk to the zona, first stop l/c., this place had about 10-15 girls there, non that I wanted to do. Didn't stop to have a drink and walked straight to t/b.. Not to many girls there either but there were at least two, that I would have done. Unfortunately both were occupied. I had a drink, and since the two that I would have done were still busy, I headed over to the alley. I finally did an alley girl, the report will be in that section.

After the alley girl, I went into h/k. Not too busy there either. There were a couple of girls I would do, but after the alley girl, I just wanted to chill. After a drink, I headed over to a/b.. The guys definitely out-numbered the girls. It looked more like a sausage fest, than a bordello. Took my walk around and left. Time for some grub, headed to the taco stand, the one on the same side of the street as c/c. I like their tacos because they dip the totillas into a soup before warming them up. For some reason, it makes the tacos taste better.

Now stuffed, I head into c/c.. Again not much going on, and it is pretty late, so I don't think anymore girls will be showing up. I walk back to h/k, of course the girls I want are taken. I have a drink and say to myself. If the one of the girls gets free before I finish my drink, I will take her up, otherwise, it will be time to go home.

I finish my drink, the girls are still occupied, time to head out. Bad news is, my little head doesn't want to leave. He wants to stick his head into the deep, one last time. I head back to t/b.. Both the girls I was eyeballing earlier were still taken, but now sitting with someone else. I was so horny at this time, I see a little homely girl sitting at one of the tables.

Because it was so late, I went off my game plan. At the clubs, I usually buy a girl a drink, just so I can get a good or bad vibe from the girl. With this girl, I just asked if she wanted to go upstairs. Big mistake.

Her name is Dulce, short flaca with black hair. Once upstairs she try rushing things. When I tried daty, she said it would be another $10.00. No kissing, no fun. I had a better time with the alley girl. Oh well, at least in the future, I will stick to my game plan and interview the girls in the bar.

    Thanks CJ

I read some reviews on another site and it sounded like a cabana but the guys kept calling it a "hotel"...lol. It's description is like some of the cabanas in the DR (and other places I'm sure). I will be sure to check that out when I come down.

Wait...they will bring you a girl? They have a selection book there? Wow, as different as it is around the world, some things are the same!

I'll be there the 10th and leave on the 12th. Short trip to kill some extra comp. days at work. I'll watch the board to see if any other ISG members will be there. We should be easy to find now since we will all be well dressed! I like that idea and although I'm trying to pack very light I will bring dress/casual stuff and leave the flip-flops home...LOL.

John, What hotel would you recommend to spend the night in near or in the Zona Norte? Or should I stay away completely from crashing in any of those hotels?

I don't know if this is allowed but if not (sorry Jackson) I will PM it to you. I figured I'd post it in case others wanted it. I stayed there earlier this year and it served my purpose just fine. Friendly staff. It was not immaculate but not bad. I am still looking for the hotel that I keep seeing listed when I read the escort reviews. It's called La Mansion. Anyone know if there is a website for them? Country do you know?

The reason you never saw it is because it's in the opposite direction fom La Zona. Correct me if I am wrong: its about $30 for 4 hours. But it's worth the price.

La Mansion is nice short term place to take a girlie. The girls like it there too. It's a bit expensive but a very very nice and classy "love motel."

It's about 5 miles South on the Via Rapida, just before the Otay/Airport cut-off. It's a $5.00 cab ride from the Zona and they will bring a girl to the room or you can bring your own. Credit cards gladly accepted. Have good ID. Very tight security.

It's a place where no expense was spared to put a nice room together. You'll like it. So will she.

    Newbie in TJ January 08

    Hey guys,

I plan to give Tijuana a quick visit when I'm in San Diego for 2 days. It will be my first time in Tijuana and from all the posts about police and criminality I suppose it wouldn't be a bad idea to find someone who could show me around. I'd be more than happy to spend a few bucks on some beers for that.

I'll probably visit on Tuesday or Wednesday (only possible dates) January 22/23.

Thanks in advance, this board already provided some useful information.

    Pueblo Amigo

Pueblo Amigo is located near the border. You see it when you are on the bridge walking back to the border.

Where is that hotel? I was thinking of getting a room tommorrow for after the party. I just don't know where a good one is at. Where is that Pablo Amiga hotel located and how much for a night?

    Efjayel,

I hear you about remaining anonymous. If I meet somebody while in TJ then sometimes I hang out with them, but this is rare. I have only made one (male) friend in the last 6 years while in TJ. I think it is best to just go down alone and enjoy yourself. Otherwise, you bring TJ back to you in the states and the two do not mix. Keeping your fun on one side and work on another is a good idea.

Next week I think I may actually just hole-up in some hotel in TJ, probably Pueblo Amigo, for a few days and just run back in forth from the hotel to the zona by cab. Then on day three I will leave.

have fun. i may actually post o this site from TJ. There is an internet spot near the HSBC bank on Revolution.
