Posts: 1328Passport/Travel Documents Requirements
The following summarizes information available on the Department of Homeland Security’s website.
JANUARY 31, 2008
U.S. and Canadian citizens will need to present either a WHTI (which means Western Hemisphere Travel Initialtive)-compliant document or a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, plus proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate. DHS also proposes to begin alternative procedures for U.S. and Canadian children at that time.
SUMMER 2008
At a later date to be determined, the departments will implement the full requirements of the land and sea phase of WHTI. The proposed rules require most U.S. citizens entering the United States at sea or land ports of entry to have either a U.S. passport; a U.S. passport card; a trusted traveler card such as NEXUS, FAST, or SENTRI; a valid Merchant Mariner Document (MMD) when traveling in conjunction with official maritime business; or a valid U.S. Military identification card when traveling on official orders.
This is the latest information on this issue as far as I can find out.

Oh, you mean the stand right across the street from the gas station. Yeah, there are nothing but locals there.
The place I am talking about is on the same street. Just keep walking as you would to the border and then at the light you will see Baja Fish Taco.
I have wanted to try the stand I think you are talking about but have always felt out of place. I may just do it next time down.

Posts: 1185Far as I know it should be. As long as you have a valid United States ID. As for me, I am a Permanent Resident(Green Card). I don't understand how they can call it a Permanent Residence card if it expires. Sock the dolt who came up with the name.
Anyways, if you are like me, then you also need to take your Green card. They've only asked me for it once. I didn't have it and a whole awful mess ensued. You can read about it a few pages back.

It's a rather ordinary-looking taco cart with a fryer for the shrimp, a guy at one end grilling the dorado tacos and a big jug of jamaica in front. It's immediately in front of a building that probably used to be a restaurant, but now just holds the fish, batter makings, sodas, etc., I think.
Go east on Paseo Carrillo (3ra) a couple of blocks, to Negrete, Turn left and you can't miss it. There's always a crowd of locals. They close sometime before dark.

Posts: 1185Eww, he probably adds his own "special sauce" to the tacos just for the gringos. 0_o
By the way, I was finally going to make another trip today Saturday but I had to work. Well I guess I don't have to, but I preffer to make money than to lose money. Besides it's raining today. I'm sure that kills the mood walking around the clubs all soaking wet.

It's a typical taco cart, with an awning strung over it. It's in front of what was probably a small restaurant at one time, but now just seems to be where they store the fish, batter makings, sodas, etc. They always have a jug of jamaica in front, a guy on the side grilling dorado tacos, and a horde of locals. I see a lot of cops eat here, for whatever that's worth.
Follow Paseo Carrillo (3ra) east from Revu two blocks. Turn left at the corner of Negrete and it's right there. They seem to close around dusk.

Posts: 845Are you talking about the taco stand that is right across from the intersection (with a stoplight) on the path back to the border?
Are there lots of pictures on the wall?
If so, this is Baja Fish Taco and the cook is Andrew. He speaks English and a lot of us have been going there for years. The food is good and locals eat there all the time.
However, Andy can be a bit of an ass because he thinks gringos have alot of money which makes him jealous. But usually he is ok and he never bothers you, it is just at times you can tell he is pissed off with the world.

Oops. I knew the street names, but not the numbers. I looked on some bogus Google map and it had the wrong street numbers.
The killer tacos de camarones stand is on the SW corner of Negrete and 3rd (Paseo Carrillo). I went there yesterday. It was all I could do to eat 2 of them. Just under $1.50 each.

Hey Fellas,
I'm making another trip tomorrow (Fri - Mon evening).
If anyone else plans on being down there send me a PM and I'll shoot you my number. Could use a wing man to scout the talent and have a few cold ones in between sessions. I will hit the main spots all days - AB, CC, HK, and even look through the street talent. Although I haven't found a gem there yet.
Country John I will call you now to check your schedule.

I know this is not really permitted here since this is not about TJ but I thought I'd ask you TJ mongerers. Anyways, just wondering if any of you that live in the L.A. area plan to go to the adult convention. It starts this Friday Sept 21st at the L.A. Convention Center and lasts through Sunday.

I've been to it in the past. It's pretty fun plus you are allowed to take pictures with the whor... I mean porn actresses. Last one I went to, I took pictures with them grabbing their asses and such. T'was a lot fun. lol.

All three restaurants are upscaled so if you take a date with you, make sure they are dressed properly.
Speaking of restaurants, does anyone know what happened to El Taurino? It used to be my favorite steak house but it looks like it is closed now. For the amount of food you get for the price, this place was a steal.
