Everyone who reads the board(s) knows about corruption in TJPD. It should come as no surprise to anyone that you could be stopped and shaken down. Even pedestrians crossing back encounter problems.
It is illegal to drive while intoxicated in Mexico. It's also illegal to do so in the USA. It's illegal to drive without wearing a seatbelt or while talking on your cel phone in TJ.
When you break the law in Mexico, you are turning control over to the cop who stops you. He has the power to decide if your stop will be a short one or a long one. His decision will be determined by how much exposure you give him.
Are you drinking? BOINK! Do you have an open container in the car? BOINK!
D you have illegal drugs? BOINK! Your paperwork is not in order? BOINK!
You see, it all depends on your situation when you are stopped.
Now the cop can follow the "letter of the law" and have your vehicle towed and impounded, you can spend the night in the tank etc. etc. If you have a weapon (gun) or even ammo, you go directly to federal prison. For a long long time.
IN exchange for the officer giving you special consideration (given the situation you are in) you can provide the officer with special consideration in the form of cash that suppliments his very low income. The alternatives are not attractive at all considering the cost of the tow, storage, impound fees etc.
In Mexico, for a small sum (usuall between $20 and $100) you can walk from what otherwise would be a very difficult situation. I guaranfuckingtee you that you would not walk if you were stopped Stateside. Costs to fix a problem like this could reach into the thousands.
So do yourself a favor. Understand what you are dealing with. If you are driving while intoxicated then that's a dangerous situation and the cop has the right to deprive you of your freedom if he wants to. You should be grateful that you paid the fine on the street. Depending on your level of assholeness, the fine could be much much more.
I drive in Mexico a LOT. I had one problem with my other car (I keep an extra car in TJ for the low profile) with no plates, no registration, my girlfriend was driving, she has no license, we were both drinking etc but when we were grabbed by the cops, we treated them with respect and paid $18.25 in cash to the cop who then let us go.
I had $300.00 in the car but told him it was all I had.
When in your vehicle, keep $40 in your pocket and stash the rest. Tell the cop it's all you have because you spent all your money on the girls. They'll understand that. That's over $400 pesos, probably half a weeks pay. They'll take it.
If you are a class "A" asshole, then you'll get hit a bit harder including a police escort to the ATM machine.
Call it what you will. We flash and bling all over the place in TJ. Mexicans think we have the money so what's the problem? Keep a few bucks for morditas. And remember that when you're handing a few bucks over to the cops because YOU got busted for no seat belt, drunk driving, drugs or open container you are getting of a lot easier than you would if you pulled that shit Stateside.
I'm not defending the corruption of TJPD, I am merely giving you a bit more insight so you might handle yourself differently next time out.
Telling a TJ cop that you had only one beer while in TJ is foolish. Right off the bat he knows you are lying to him so then he is thinking "what else is this estupido gringo lying about?"
Tell him the truth. "Yeah officer, I had about 8 beers earlier in the day so I had to wait several hours before driving home, that's why I am here so late." Now THAT is more like it. And as long as you are not visibly intoxicated and able to handle yourself you should be OK.
Don't expect any cop (TJ or Stateside) to go easy if you are falling down drunk and driving a 4000 pound vehicle on their city streets.
"Common sense" should be self evident. Everyone lies to the cops. "What were you doing in the Zona?" Ans: "I was having some beer with some friends."
REal answer: "I was having sex with girls." Now you could say that you were "Chasing the girls." The bottom line is don't look like a bullshitter. These guys might be corrupt but they are not stupid. Don't give them a reason to dig deeper, toss your vehicle or give you a hard time because you are insulting their intelligence by insisting that you had only ONE fucking beer in Tijuana Mexico. 'Cmon.

Posts: 31Just visited on 7/26 after a long absence... things have changed! I guess Adelita's is always changing their layout. Spent some time there, but it seems like more girls are adopting the 'hottie central girl' attitude. They just stand around and wait for a proposition. I remember being approached on my previous visits, but apart from a couple of not-so-good-looking providers making the rounds, the women there just stood around.
So I went to Hong Kong and watched the strip shows. I saw they had remodeled as well, adding a third floor where the booths now were. Ended up spending some time with a really petite chica, can't remember her name other than it started with F, and sounded roughly like fucka, or something like that. Anyway, it was by far the most social experience I've had in TJ. It was a nice change, if not more expensive. But that was what I was looking for this time. When we did get a room, it was more of a GFE than I've experienced before in TJ.
After that, I ended up trying one of the girls on the street outside of HK, even though my past experience on the street there wasn't too good. I don't know the name of the street, I just think of it as the alley-even though it isn't- but anyway, her name was Anjelica, a little chubby with glasses, quoted me $20 for CBJ, and reluctantly agreed to $25 for BBBJ/20 min, and I have to say, she delivered a pretty good one. Of course her mouth got tired, but she sucked the sack while i finished myself off. I know $25 or even $20 is more than I've seen posted here before for service off the street, but it just seems my negotiating skills aren't any good(at all) down there. Maybe it would help if I learned some spanish. Anyway, I guess I'll be having to return in a month or so. The petite chica at HK left quite an impression on me. Best time there I've had yet.

Hey guys,
Is anyone going down to TJ tomorrow? If so, do you want to hook up at the border? I am a newbie to the TJ scene and would like someone with experience to show me the way to the light. First couple of rounds on me.
PM me if you are going and interested.

Posts: 34I arrived in TJ about 8pm a week ago Tuesday. I never go midweek so I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. Even though there wasn't as many girls on the street or in the clubs like Chicago or Adelitas, the ratio of girls to mongers was much better then it is on the weekend. Also some of the starting prices were lower then they are on weekends and I'm not talking about the "suky, fuky $5" pitch that when you respond you find it's just the price for the room, but a lot of the girls were ready to give full service for $20. Of course the real hot ones still asked for the moon but I had no trouble getting my suky, fuky, sin ropa, two positions for $30 plus the room from 2 very young and pretty SW's during the course of the night.
I guess it finally had to happen. I was harassed by the TJ police. I know I’ve said in the past that if you mind your own business, don’t look for trouble, and keep a low profile you’ll never have a problem with the local police. That’s exactly what I was doing when a squad car that was shaking down some local street people called me over. The first thing he asked me was if I spoke Spanish. When I told him no he asked in perfect English if I had any drugs on me and I responded with a firm no. I assure you I don’t fit the drug profile. Whenever I’m in TJ, I never wear expensive clothes or jewelry because I don’t want to invite an opportunity for a thief. I wear jeans, clean tennis shoes because of all the walking I do, and a nice casual shirt. He then asked me what I was doing in TJ. I told him I was a tourist and was just enjoying their fine night life. He made me wait until he was done searching the street people that he was already working on and then searched me. I was expecting him to try to plant something on me or try anything to get some money from me but that didn’t seem to be his motive. When he got into my pocket and reached my BR he made me take out my money and put it on the car's hood. He was purposely making an effort not to handle the money himself. He made me place it right in front of where I was standing. I had about 3 hundred in 10s and 20s on me and probably would have given him about $20 but I was prepared to make him take me to his captain if he shot for any more. He didn’t. When he saw I had nothing illegal on me (he even made me lift up my pant legs so he could check my shoes and socks) he then rudely told me to go home. It took all I had not to tell him that if I went home I couldn’t spend my money in his dirty city, spreading it around his bars and restaurants. That it was people like me that his economy depended on and if he had any common sense he would spend his time stopping real crime and leave the tourists alone. I didn’t say any of that. I just followed some of my old rules that focused on keeping a low profile. I stopped into a local bar and had a few beers. I then took a few laps until I found a SW that appealed to me, got laid, and then took a cab back to the border. I had a great time in spite of the prick cop and an even better one the next day. Because this post is already to long winded, I’ll write about it in my next post.

Posts: 34I don't think they have internet but I stay at the San Ysidro Travel Lodge. For around $60 per day it's at least clean. I can hang out and party in TJ and after I cross back to the US I can walk back to my room. This way I don't have to park at the border and worry about a DUI driving back to a hotel. If your looking for something nicer, Google hotels in the San Ysidro area and check their hotel ratings, their distance to the border, and their internet access. You can drive back to your hotel after you cross back over or take one of the cabs that are always waiting on the US side.
If you want to stay in TJ both the Camino Reale and the Hotel Pueblo Amigo are very nice hotels and sometimes you can get a good deal on priceline. Hotel Pueblo Amigo also has some very nice nightlife in the mall next store. Stay away from the overpriced massage parlor in that mall but if you speak spanish, and have some pretty good game, you might do ok with one of the local girls. I don't know if either have internet because everytime I plan a trip I do my internet homework before I get there and Monger during my time in the area.
Speaking of mongering, Houston is one of my favorites US spots to spend a few days. It's one of the last places over here that's still wide open.

From the information I recieved the passport rules were changed this year Jan 1. But with althe confusion and uproar, the are very leinent on this rule until Jan 1, 2007, so fellow mongers, get your passports now, it takes about 3 weeks unless you pay for a quickie, 3 days and about $150.
Happy hunting guys

I went last week. Just flashed my driver's license and was on my way. They scanned it though. So I guess its lucky that I don't have anyone looking for me at the moment.
I suggest you walk over, the traffic on the way out was crazy and it was only a Tuesday.
Saw a stunner in LC who offered $50 for half an hour, but I was already heading out. May be worth checking out though.
Good luck.

The 'first letter capitalized' problem indicates that the poster's caps lock key was on. Something on the forum causes only the first letter of each word to be capitalized.
I have seen this problem before. It is definitely not a guy sitting there trying to capitalize every word, lol...

There are no problems bringing a girl to the room. If you know in advance of the TLN arrangement, then register her at the desk. Yes, register her. There are several reasons for this.
1. The guy who works the desk at night might not be the same guy who checked you in.
2. Sure, Hank owns the place but if security wants to be a prick, they CAN send the girl away.
3. One night after a TLN I drove the girl back to the Zona and was stopped by the cops who "saw" her giving me oral sex in the car (illegal). It was bullshit of course and when I offered to have him come with me to the hotel to prove she was registered with me there and we were there all night, they had nowhere to go but the hole they came out of.
4. If she rips you off, or kills you in the room, the cops will have clues. (Go ahead, tell me this never happens.)
5. If she OD's in the room, registering her will help you if they think you did her in.
When you check in, register Mr. and Mrs. Whateveryournameis. Tell the desk that she is arriving later etc. You are in Mexico. Document your situation and then shred it when you cross Stateside if you want to.
I understand that some will see this as over the top but you must remember that you are not in the USA and therefore your rights are very [BOLD]G*O*N*E.[/BOLD]/ It's up to YOU to protect yourself.
Not registering the girl is like opening the door to a stranger, of which there will be no record.
