Need help guys. I won't be using my Charles Schwab card to get money this trip. What cambio by revolution or downtown consistently gives the best exchange rate. I haven't shopped rates down there in years.

I think there are cambios on 2nd street by madero going east of revolucion. In the zona I always use the cambio on coahuila just east of constitucion. But go during the day as I think these places close around 8 pm then you're either stuck with your US dollars and therefore you have to pay dollar prices which locals will use every opportunity to make dollar transactions work in their favor, or you get screwed using the late night cambio on primera just east of constitucion which gives a terrible rip off rate. I've come to the conclusion that the lack (or complete absence) of cambios at night in the immediate revolucion and zona norte (tourist zones) is not an accident. They want you to not be able to obtain pesos at night when the alcohol kicks in and those dollars start flowing. It's by design. It's also by design the lack of legit ATM's in the tourist zones.

Moral of the story, change your money before 8 pm or prepare to be gringo priced for everything. The rates from place to place don't vary enough to worry about the difference, unless you're changing thousands at a time. Better yet buy your pesos in San Ysidro on the US side for a better rate.

Cambuis near the border and in La Zona are all within half to a peso difference. I never exchange large amount, so not worth the risks shopping. I do know HSBC ATM rate was about 5% lower than cambios.

I usually exchange money at the cambio on Coahuila near the South East corner of Constitucion. That cambio is the closest to La Zona and is fairly safe.

Thanks for all the wonderful tips! 2 are really freaky and I could see getting me into trouble if we got caught, other one not sure as she is more reserved. They used to quote me crazy prices at first, but then got to know me. We never negotiated fees and I just slid $300-$500 in their purse and they seemed appreciative for all day / night festivities and they take me to the extreme. It feels like they genuinely like to hang out to get their mind away from ZN work. They all are into either weed or shrooms so hope they can deal with not being high during travel. The main issues is communication as it is mostly through google translate, but hope they can improve their English.

The recent one in Rosarito can't do any alcohol or drugs since she is getting lipo, but interested in going on the Alaska or Caribbean cruise if she can figure out visa. Also trips with a sexy chica is worth a few bad moments as long as it isn't the entire trip. I'll mostly be playing cards and then trips during day. I think I'll try for $100 per day and then go up to $200 and if not, then traveling solo. Are you serious? Would you actually consider spending extended time with a girl who couldn't leave drugs alone for a week, and with whom you are unable to carry on a conversation? And you'd pay $500/ day for this privilege? That's borderline insane money in Mexico for that kind of girl.

Also, I have bad news for you if you think any of these girls can get a visa on their own. The ones who do are either dual citizens or have a husband who got them the visa. You have to prove income, assets, a bank account, and really good reasons to return to Mexico. Unfortunately, none of these girls can provide any of that.

Sure, on vacation would be nice to be with a soul-mate nymph all day. But the probably of it working out is too low and just not worth the risk from my perspective.

I always just change cash versus chasing a rate and getting card fraud. Solo posted about his card thefts.

More mongering tourists from the USA need to distinguish money standards in the USA are not the same in Mexico. Real Estate values are greatly overvalued in USA therefore mortgages and rents are high. Further, USA salaries are high so we can pay our hosing costs and still have some money leftover.

One of the first things anyone should try to understand when visiting a foreign country is the purchasing power of their home currency.

For example, based on Mexican money standards, the street girls aren't doing low paid jobs, their doing middle class jobs by Mexican money standards. Yes, the bar girls are 3 x as much, but their are other factors to consider.

Really the market at the big bars became inflated because we applied USA money standards and not Mexican money standards. It's still not bad now, but if your young - 30's, like me don't think the day won't come when it'll be $300.

. 60% guys in Tijuana only go once or twice year. So they throw money around like it's free raising cost for everyone.

I won't talk about the Acapulco trip, it was a total disaster, nothing went right on that trip. On the playa del carmen trip it was great until she lost her wallet, if I put that aside it was great, it was an Adelita girl from Guadalajara who I really fancy, she only charged me $150 per day with one por per day, $50 more for the next one, and so on. She said that the reason she was charging me that way was because she knew me and she knows that the second and third sessions are always an hour plus with me and she always finished sore with me, she's right.

Every person and every deal is different, I can tell you this, if the trip goes to hell you'll feel it was a bad investment, if it goes great it will feel like a great deal, the amount of money does not matter, in my case I think third will be the charm.
