This is not quite true, because it is a lot easier to pick up a hot chick in a place like Colombia than it is in the US.

That hasn't been my experience. I've hung out with countless gringos in Colombia. I would do long extended stays at backpacker hostels. Have you ever been to a hostel and there's that one guy who seems to live there as if it's his home and he knows everybody and everything in the neighborhood? I was that guy. I was constantly around Yanks, Brits, Aussies, Canadians, Germans, Kiwis, Israelis (Israelis in Colombia are some buckwild BTW) and honestly these guys weren't really killing it with the chicas. The obviously good looking guys did pretty good. But the dorky guys weren't getting laid without paying for it. You wouldn't believe how many shameful, cringe worthy failures I witnessed gringos get shot down by Colombian chicks. And the ones who I did witness attract interest and friendly conversation from Colombianas at least half of them ended up requesting money at some point. And I can spot a prepago from a mile away. Sure you can get on a dating site and probably land a first date with a hottie but if she's not genuinely attracted to you, you're going to have to cough up some cash if you want there to be a second date. You may look like brad Pitt, but for an old guy like me Medellin easily beats san Diego; yes there are bombshells in SD too but they are usually high maintenance and already taken by a rich guy; there is no reliable website for one night stand.
