Not sure why there are so many complaints about the $30 fmm. True you really shouldn't have to buy it if you are only going as far as Tijuana and your visit is 7 days or less. But due to the pandemic and essential travel rules they kind of discovered a way to force some to make the purchase..

I will be traveling to Tijuana next week for 6 days with my large duffle bag. Is Mexico still following essential travel rules? I thought everything was open now. Do you think I will have a problem if I tell them I am on vacation. I could stay in SD and just cross the border every other day for my dental and doctor's visits.

As far as I'm concerned pandemic or no pandemic I have always been happy to purchase it. A $30 6 month pass to adult Disneyland with no paperwork or waiting in line or answering questions is well worth it. If you can't afford it you probably should stay home and save your money.

And yes Scott now that you have the fmm just walk in the Mexican only line and flash your fmm and it is clear sailing, no worries about fake excuses or being denied entry.

I bought one, great investment. They are getting stricter both walking and driving into Mexico. There is no reason to flight this battle.

I've been going back and forth since covid and flying all over Mexico from in state Mexico. There's no test required to walk back.

All they ask what did you do there and are you bring anything back that's it.

Just declare if you have anything very simple and you must wear a mask now its federal law no biggie I always wore one.

It appears that they're profiling younger guys and taxing them. Hopefully this "permit" allows you to cross easily in the local line.

So true. Some people just need to grow a set. I really didn't want to type all this, but in the interest of combating corruption and extortion in Mexico, here's my story:

Early on, when they started this crap, I had occasion to cross the border on foot (normally do by car but this time I was walking). I walked in the Mexican National line just like I always do when on foot, and this little "Napoleon" pulled me out of the line and sent me to the office in the back. The thick neck at the desk demanded that I buy a $30 FMM. I basically told him to fuck off.

He said, "Then you must return to the US".

I said, "Okay, chief, but just so you know, my money returns with me. " (I never mention that I already live in Mexico because that just starts another shitshow I want no part of).

So, he threw me in the "rubber room" next door to piss me off (which he succeeded grandly) and try to intimidate me. I was in there for about an hour and heard him extort fake fees from several travelers. At one point, another thick neck opened the door to the rubber room, for some reason, and left it ajar for a couple of minutes. Through the door, I saw the thick neck behind the desk extort the $30 from some hapless traveler and put it in a cash drawer inside his desk drawer. As soon as the traveler's back was turned and he was out of the room, thick neck reached in the drawer, removed the $30 and stuck it in his pocket.

Finally two thick necks came and escorted me all the way to the US checkpoint (because I am a dangerous man and not to be trusted on the loose in Mexico). I walked to the US agent at a booth and he asked me why I had been in Mexico.

"I haven't been to Mexico," I said.

Of course, he challenged that statement and I told him what had just happened and that thick neck tried to make me pay $30 for a FMM.

"They can't do that," he said.

"Then you go tell them that," I said.

I made a you-turn outside the CBP compound and went right back into the Mexican line. This time I went up to the tourist desk instead of walking in the Mexican National line.

The guy at the desk apparently recognized me and said, "Why did the other guy turn you back?

"Because I wouldn't pay him a $30 mordida to cross," I said.

He just rolled his eyes and said, "Go ahead ", and waved me on through.

He didn't even look at my passport.

I know for a fact the 180-day FMM is a scam and every dollar is going into crooked border agents' pockets. I've witnessed it firsthand and have the word of agents on both sides of the border that it is in fact a scam.

So, hopefully, you guys will stop subsidizing their racket. Then, again, as you noted, Captain, some people just need to grow a set--and some never do.

Went down yesterday at 2 pm. I went over to the Mexican line a breezed through. Had a buddy with me who is Dominican. He went to the regular line. There were 4 people ahead of him so I stood and watched. It seemed the people that already had the form were not sent to the back room, while those that did not were sent there, almost. The people that already had the form, she just completed it for them and they were allowed to pass. My buddy's turn came up and he pointed to me and she sent him to the back room.

Next came a family of 5. They did not have any forms but she gave them forms to go over to an empty booth to complete. So who knows what the fuck is going on. My buddy came out the back room and I asked him if he had to pay. He said the guy went through the spiel about no tourists allowed blah blah blah. He started shooting the shit with the guy and showed him his passport which had a few stamps from other countries. He told the guy that he was just going over to see and that it was it first time. The guy told him that he would give him a break and he was not charged.

He said other guys were in there with the dentist story and the agent said what is wrong with the dentist in America. They got charged the $30.

We took the bus downtown and sat down to eat at one of my favorite restaurants. There were 2 ladies and I guess the son of one of them. They had the mariachi band do an entire concert for them. Those ladies were really into it, videoing and all. It all ended when they asked them to play a song they did not know.

Headed to the barber shop, but my barber had the day off. So I showed my buddy around the street chicks. You don't need to bring big stacks of $1 bills. You can withdraw cash in hotels' ATMs and exchange for $1 at the bars. HK has the most $1 bills on hand in all America.

What's the web site to apply for FMM on line?

I always see fellow mongers asking about FMM. I've always just walked right on through the Mexican National side. When COVID started but HK was still open, for the first time ever they asked for my Mexican ID. Since I am not a Mexican citizen I had to stand in the gringo line and fill out an FMM, I was not charged at that time.

For following trips I've gone online to fill out the FMM there and as long as your trip is 7 days or less there is no charge. You are sent an email that says your FMM is ready to be printed. Print it out and take it with you, when you cross they look like they are verifying some info and stamp it. Keep the stamped side with you because I have been asked for it by the Municipales, and Guardia Nacional for it when when I drive past Ensenada.

Speaking of the test requirement when flying into the States from Mexico, would that apply to CBX?

I'm not sure how it works with CBX, maybe someone else can chime in on that issue. I've heard that some are skipping CBX when returning because of that reason.

You might be thinking of flying into the US from Mexico, then a test is required (not 100% sure on that one).

Perhaps not right because in theory a flight from another Mexican city to Tijuana airport is a domestic flight and then after you arrive you "walk" from the arrivals area of the Tijuana airport into the US.

No testing. I cross every weekend on foot and the USA Agents could care less they don't even try to determine if your reason for travel is essential.

Same experience for me. I crossed back into the States yesterday and he seemed to care less. His only question was whether I was bringing anything back. I thought to myself, just drained balls and an exhausted cock.
