Mexicans don't tend to buy short term phone contracts. They tend to buy pay-as-you-go service, which in the cellular world is known as no-contract service, although anytime you hand over any money to a business, you are entering into a contract. American-style two year contracts which include a device are rare in Mexico, as most people have no credit or bad credit. Because a substantial percentage of the population work for cash off the books.

If chicas are getting new numbers every 3 months, it is not because their contract expired. They can always reload at Oxxo and keep their same number. They are getting new numbers because there are people they wish to avoid. Or if a chica was gifted her SIM card by someone else, then loses her phone, Telcel / Movistar will only issue a replacement SIM to the named account holder.

I'm writing this report in the general section because it covers various topics. I arrived Friday night and I can tell you basically everything is open and business as usual in Centro. In fact, Revo was buzzing aside from the businesses that shuttered because of COVID. El Copeo was packed and the 2nd floor bar across from Hotel Rio Rita is an awesome place with ambiance, craft beer and hot high class Mexicanas. Having said all that, the businesses have at least some semblance of protocols compared to the states I've been in lately domestically. Everywhere conducted a temperature check and required application of hand sanitizer prior to entry. The Zona was quiet on the surface but not inside the makeshift hotel clubs. Those were buzzing. I'm not one of those COVID excessive worriers, but I'm not looking to get it either. If you go to the 7th floor of Hong Kong, then you're someone who is intentionally trying to get COVID. People were packed inside in a manner that would make a perfect picture illustration in a dictionary for superspreader event. The main hallway was not people moving and instead a bunch of young, asymptotic SoCal guys standing shoulder to shoulder with chicas. I saw it and bolted faster than a fart in the wind. Tropical has a nice setup, but Chicago had the funniest girls. Finally, I'm a menudo junkie and might have found my new favorite joint in Ricardo's on Calle 7. For my nightcap, I banged out one of my faves to take a stroll down memory lane.

This is 100% accurate. When you pay with dollars, the most change you'll get back is three quarters. When you pay with pesos, if you don't have exact change you'll get back a stack of coins. Not only is it an easy scam by the meseros, but now you have a stack of coins in your pocket. Pay with dollars in the zona bars -- it is WAY easier and the exchange rate won't bite you (most of the time it's in your favor).

Fuck those meseros. I use to feel that way. Now I stop and count every fucking coin. If they will pull that shit, I'll play along. A real Mexican damn sure would. So, I count every coin, and then, assuming it's correct, I tip the guy 10 pesos. 15 if I'm feeling generous. Then I keep the stack of coins on the table, and the next round I use the coins to pay for it. Two can play at that game.

Oh, and in lots of "local" bars, if you pay in dollars you'll get change in pesos. That's not an issue the the gringo-centric zona bars.

When do why'all think it will re-open again? I absolutely loved inside of HK back in early Nov. But as always my timing was off. Friday afternoons and Sat just too busy, too much vice, the Manager of the shuttle back to the border a real AH to me yelling me give the driver a good tip which I gave them all regardless. I re-booked mid January last month to arrive Sun. 17th and Monday 18th with discounts on Cascadas rooms and not so much pretense! Think HK back open full by then? If not at least I can rebook my SWA to go partying in Florida nightclubs. .

I discovered Tijuana, this forum, and this lifestyle about 5 years ago. It was mind blowing, to live in southern California and not be sex deprived ever again. Went from being overworked / depressed to being as happy and free as I've ever been. Then I remember in 2018 or so I had a collection of thoughts like "what could possibly change in Mexico that would kill off zona norte? And a pandemic didn't even cross my mind. The only plausible thought I had was that if the Mexican government put its foot down and forced zona norte to shut down. Then fast forward to now and covid happened, and zona isn't the same as before. The reason I'm explaining all of this is because of a recent trend I've noticed on my social media this week. I am 'friends' on social media with about a dozen chicas that I met in Tijuana (but they live elsewhere), and 3 of them have vowed to not return to Tijuana or this lifestyle again. They're starting to get their shit together, even with a child at home. I spoke with one yesterday who said she enrolled in university and is started classes in January. Another one has started a banking job at Banamex. Another one got a covid scare and is now back home living with her mom and helping their family business. All 3 of them have transformed their social media and removed their sexy photos and now look like average, normal women. Aside from working in the zona, they seem completely normal and I absolutely wouldn't mind dating any of them. They've never begged me for money and we occasionally talk on the phone / etc. I'm going to invite each of them, individually, to 3 or 4 days in Cancun and see if there's chemistry with any.

75% of the HK girls were always part time anyway. Either they left for other sex paying jobs in different countries or Southern Mexico, or they left for different jobs or some would simply travel to Europe 6 months a year. Some return many don't. All can get a boyfriend to pay a lot of their bills but for reasons don't want one at that moment. I would use caution in contacting girls who have left. All woman always have a love interest.
