This trip started off and the wrong foot and I'm thinking of leaving earlier than schedule.

Don't use a credit card at these hotels. I did and had purchases around the world about 2 hrs later.

I've been exclusively using my credit card for my Cascadas hotel room for the past few years now. Basically for the same reason as you, to free up the cash I bring across the border to spend in the clubs. Never had any problems using credit cards for my room. You can put both your hotel room and the VIP membership card fee on a credit card, though the $30 refundable deposit for the room has to be paid in case (they give you that cash deposit back though after you check out).

If using a credit card would look to use a card that doesn't charge foreign transaction fees. Fees here can range from 1-3% of the purchase though there are several cards that have no foreign transaction fees. So would definitely be conscientious of that.
