Information Request- San Ysidro Border Crossing USA Into Mexico And Back

With the latest news about "clamping down" on non-essential travel, has there been any noticeable changes besides wait times to cross back into the USA. And what about being questioned by CBP prior to crossing. I crossed on foot about two weeks ago, and there was nobody on the pathway before entering the turnstiles questioning anyone nor any notices that only "essential business" was allowed for crossing. When crossing I was asked where I was going, and I said I had a dental appointment, and was issued a tourist card, they took my temperature, and that was it. Upon returning I have SENTRI and was only asked what I had to declare, and that was it.

So my questions are, are they checking people's temperatures upon crossing back into the USA now, are they asking questions, etc. Up until now crossing in and out by foot has been no different than before for me, albeit I have SENTRI, other than that it's actually been a lot faster entering the Country on foot than before.

    Border Crossing

I'll throw my 2 cents in on the Border Crossing issue. Last Thurs. About 1 pm I arrived at the border going from Tijuana to San Ysidro. It took about 1 HR. And 15 minutes to get across. The line moved in fits and starts. Yes there were a few line cutters along the way, I spotted them. Customs was no problem, just a few questions. And that was it. I had a fun time in my 3 days in Tijuana. Chicas, gambling, food and Tecate beer.

None of us are supposed to be there right now. They are finally doing their job about 5 months too late but it looks good for the upcoming elections.

So 40 minutes can be 4 hours. Keep in mind every minute people are cutting. I can tell they are cutting because they dobt walk all the way to front which sentri people do. Border patrol admoted the wait times are guesses based on length of line. Not accounting on how many lines are open or line cutting. I'm done with Tijuana last week I went back at 630 am just 4 mine wait so I tried again but my leg is bad its painful to also waste a entire day.
You seem to be working way too hard and struggling in your effort with standing and being at the border.

    Think about taking a vacation.

Yes, I have to agree, when I am driving back from MTY, they are very strict now.

Borders a disaster. Maybe 2 to 3 hours by 7 am both borders. I gave up on San Ysidro due to medical pass acams otay very bad lesw medical pass scams. Sometimes lone goes backward to to not moving for 30 minutes then line cutters showing up. Trump wanted bordee shut down for covid reasons to show he's doing stuff I guess. But he will lose votes. Only window to go back to USA seems to be midnight to 230 am. At least you won't be in the baking sun. I'll probably give up try tonight, get 100 dollar ticket on my car in San Diego and never return.

    The longest returning car lines

    Fryer,

Wed and Sunday last week at 1 and 6 PM, the return READY car lanes in San Ysidro were the longest I have ever seen, about 2 miles long. Meanwhile there were very few pedestrians.

Looks like there are no tourists, only people driving over for personal business, visiting families, Gfs etc. Tell CBP you have essential business, medical, dental appointments, buying meds ect. If not essential, agents can send you to secondary inspection to cool your ass a few hours.

I'm just responding to what I saw this this morning leaving Mexicali via the Sentri Lane. The normal driving lane were full and very long. Maybe the USA Immigration officers were doing tests? In the Sentri line, no tests of any kind. Just asked where I was going back to, and I told him Yuma. No problems. I didn't see any signs or notifications posted about testing either.

    Fryer.

I drove into Mexico on Friday, 9 pm, without being questioned as usual. Infared thermometers are not effective in detecting covid cases in their early stages, which is when a person is most contagious. As a side note, the first time I went to Rizo a couple months ago, when the guy scanned me, the temperature gun screen showed red. He then scanned me again. It scanned red again. He just shrugged his shoulders and told me "pasale."

My 1st Trip to HK and Tijuana

Come on down, if you are already in the area, you'll regret it and wonder about it for a long time if you don't. Just be aware that the underground bars are a covid haven.
Thanks for the advice Clam. I did make a very short trip Saturday afternoon. Visited HK and tried to a oriented with the surrounding area. I wasn't too brave and it was also a bit on the warm side so I didn't go too far from HK. I did see a multitude of SW standing in front of a variety of locations up and down the road that HK is on and around. The furthest I ventured was to intersection of Coahuila and Av Revolucion. I was not sure if it was smart or even necessary to venture out any further. As I mentioned in my initial post I wouldn't mind linking up with a more seasoned bro to get a really good guided tour of the do's and don't's and good and bad locations of the enitre Zona. Hopefully I can make another trip before I leave the area.

I crossed Friday for a quick non-mongering visit. The Pedestrian line back was the longest I've ever seen. The Auto SENTRI lane seemed very long also. I crossed on foot with SENTRI and it was very fast only 5 people in line.
