Have you heard about the new checkpoint before you walk into Mexico at San Ysidro? The new desk, which I saw Saturday so 6 days ago, had 3 staff members, I believe a turnstile like on a subway line, a desk, while they didn't question me, I walked fast. This checkpoint is new, wasn't there 2 weeks ago or in last 5 years, and its literary on the border with Mexico so few feet before the Mexican gate that is a 1 way gate.

That is the pop up room which folds back into the wall. It isn't open all the time. They open it unexpectedly. Maybe they are using it more during Covid?

They WILL search you and have you put your hands against the wall for a Zona Norte style police search if they feel the need to. It has happened to me twice. This LEAVING the USA going INTO Mexico. They kept asking me what nationality I am and asking me if I had family in Mexico. I am not Mexican nor do I have family in Mexico. My crime was not looking white enough for them.

You are supposed to walk in on the Mexican line if have the 6 month visa pass 30 dollar thing whatever its called. I'm gonna assume, many people like me, buy it, to avoid filling up their passport book with stamps. 1 stamp every six months is better than 2 or 3 a week. Obviously a card is helpful but the passport agency is a mess now and I wouldn't mail my book in ever again until its expiring.

I would be happy to show you the bars and street scenes in Tijuana, potentially pick up any intels you have about Korea and Japan for post-CoVid travel. But also Tijuana's La Zona Norte is small and very visitors friendly with mostly self-service offers. You can easily do it yourself and have a safe, good time any day of the week.

Read the forum to get familiar with the rules and geography. Stay around the bar block for girls, bars, food and safety, may be a short walk to the trinket alley next to hotel nelson and tourist traps on Ave Revolucion. For noobs, other places should be accessed by UBER. Don't walk around by yourself at night or you may risk being robbed.

After getting dropped off in front of HK / Cascada hotel, walk in Cascada door and climb up to reception on second floor. There is an elevator that takes you to 7th floor where you can party with HK girls and take them to the room. Security guys will direct you.

You can also pick up street girls in the alley behind Cascada, some used to work in HK, nice, pretty, gentle, and take them into hotel Cascada, the only hotel in La Zona with air con in this hot weather.

If you don't fear coronavirus definitely go. I would not go just cause police are robbing people and waiters and staff are literally begging for tips for things that don't deserve a tip. In terms of the layout of the clubs honestly its not much worse than normal because its different. For people who have been going, having the different layouts is interesting. In the past CBP occasionally had agents with drugs-sniffing dogs screening people leaving the US and entering Mexico to catch people smuggling currencies and weapons.

With a turnstile and a permanent desk at PedEast entry into Mexico, CBP may soon implement a policy to screen, limit or arrest people for leaving. But CBP would need a policy decision by HS or State Dept. That is constitutionally legal.

It may be legal and reasonable for US government to block people from entering the US on grounds of CoVid risks, but blocking them from leaving is a huge constitutional stretch.

That probably deterred a lot of people from going. When we got to the border, there were very few cars. We crossed with no delay, but the lines of return cars on READY lanes were horrible, stretching all the way back to downtown Tijuana from 1 PM to 6 PM.

It was very unusual there were very few pedestrians returning on Ped East at 6 PM last Sunday. That is the known worst time in the week and the waiting line would usually stretch half a mile to the park and taxi stand. There were also very few pedestrians returning Wed afternoon 6 PM. So returning foot traffic is very light now while car traffic is screwed. Looks like more and more people are driving over instead of walking.
