When the traffic starts to back up, especially on the weekends, the cops do rope off that area, and others. I think you have to get onto the Via Rapida and get in a long-ass line when that happens. Or, try your luck at Otay. Sometimes the Ready Lane is shorter. But it's all a crapshoot on a weekend.

Tijuana was never that great and now it is even less.

Glad to hear you had such a great time mongering in ZN. One thing though, $40 is definitely on the high side compared to what veterans pay. Before, $12 ($200 mx) was the norm for express service and $300-$400 mx was the norm for upgraded service.

Anyhow, there are plenty of hotels that are suitable to sleep in in ZN. Cascadas, Rizo, Ibiza are the most comfortable choices but priced accordingly. If you want more affordable but still acceptable sleeping quarters, you can try Coahuila Mon-Wed for $20, La Caretta which is newer for around $25 or Velario for around $30 which is a block and a half from HK.

Since you've been to Belgium and write intelligently, I would guess that you've experienced reasonable success in life and do not wish to endanger yourself by trying to save $5 or so. So please, do not EVER consider staying overnight in the fleabag hotels the SG's stand in front of. Sure, they may be tolerable for 20 minutes while banging a SG but how can you consider staying overnight in them? Filthy, never properly cleaned, roach / rodent infested, security issues with rateros constantly on the prowl, not to mention the constant fear of getting stuck by a misplaced meth needle. You would have to be a filthy, uneducated, off-the-scale type of loser to even consider staying overnight in a fleabag SG hotel. Just imagine the people in your neighboring rooms, either $20 hookers or drug-addicted low lifes.

In the 12 years or so being on this and various other Tijuana boards, I've never once heard anybody mention staying overnight in a fleabag SG hotel. It's just unconscionable for any decent human being to allow himself to be subject to such squalor. Only the most filthy loser monger in Tijuana could even consider it for more than 1 second, so clueless and unaware to the shame of publicly posting it as a recommendation. Unless you are high school dropout, crack addict with a sub-80 IQ who cares nothing about access to hot water for bathing, much less wiping your face with a towel encrusted by dried semen, please do not consider staying overnight in a fleabag hotel.

That's a very strong endorsement. Glad you found lots of hotties in La Zona. The scene used to be a lot more fun preCoVid with bars open and lots more girls. But you can still hang out partying in the bars, flirt with girls, take 3 or 4 to bed a night, eat, drink and have fun. And I always dream of visiting the girls in Belgium and Holland, the women who live on boats in canals hehe.

Sttaying in La Zona gives you a lot of time for the girls. Hotel Cascada is the most convenient. It's safe and comfortable enough for short stays with Azuls serving food 24 hours. You can take unlimited number of bar and street girls to your room all night. You have better chances of getting girls to stay LT or all night. Buy a bottle of good Tequila and party with girls in your room. They tend to go wild after a couple shots.

Nearby are hotels Rizzo de Oro and Ibiza, owned by HK, same quality, same prices, but just a little less convenient. Most bar and street girls would walk there.

First time in Tijuana. Excellent!

The same girls who charge $40 on the street work at the clubs and charge $100. I can confirm this because I just talked about this with the girl I just was with.

I just got back from a weekend trip to Tijuana a couple of hours ago. I tried to use the Ready Lane (driving) for the first time but it was roped off so I had to double back and get in the general border crossing. Is this something new or is it normal? I am a bit surprised that some people are actually visiting the Zona. I usually avoid Tijuana when the weather is so hot. There is little if any breeze when it gets this hot. I do visit Tijuana it is after 3 pm or before 11 am. Personally I am avoidig Tijuana until weather cools down. i may go down if a exceptional SW appears.

It would be much better for you if you negotiate in pesos and not dollars. Also it will not drive the prices up for us that frequent Zona Norte. We have been talking about this for years in this forum.

Most of these shoddy looking hotels that the street girls stand in front of offer both short-term AND overnight room rentals.

The street girl hotel named Casa Teresa located near the west end of the alley is the exception, it closes every night and has no overnight rooms.

Hey GI. First of all, thanks very much for your detailed report. Very much appreciated.

I felt the need to throw in my 2 pesos regarding escorts. Unfortunately, it may only help you in the future as you are already back home. However, it may help a reader who is now on the fence about escorts.

In that escort thread you can find that a room at a "love motel" like La Mansion will only set you back an additional $30/40 or so for the whole night on a weekday. I also found that some agencies (Queens for sure) will service Zona hotels. I found which agencies may be considered untrustworthy (Adult Baja) & which are gold standard (Musas, MLB, CITJ, H&SL) I even learned a little about dealing with indies / Mileroticos & how to avoid potential pitfalls there.

In no way am I bashing the SG or BG scene. However, I think it's worth noting that with a minimal amount of additional planning & minimal extra expenditure, escorts can be a very worthwhile addition to a trip. YMMV of course but it may be worth trying next time.
