One reason is that I will be carrying luggage as Tijuana is the end of a trip that starts in Chihuahua. Copper Canyon. Lower Baja. I figure that I could easily store my luggage there at a hotel, bar, or restaurant and use the swimming pool at one of these places. I read you can use the pool if you order lunch, drinks, etc. When I am ready to go to airport for my flight, it will be easy to go there because it's quite close. I am not sure if the other places you mention like Pacific Beach offer the same ease of travel for a half day visit. But I am open to other suggestions.

What is making you choose Coronado? You should go to ocean beach ir Pacific Beach. The ocean is often sobpoluut3d in Coronado that they won't let anyone in the ocean like Tijuana and if they do, they have signs saying it's not healthy. There's also nothing interesting going on in Coronado it looks like Florida. For old people.

I would pay extra to avoid the San Diego airport, trolley or Uber to the border, and idiot taxis.

As I see it, anytime an airline crosses an international border, they are going to charge you a HK fee. So be prepare to open up your wallet for hidden charges.

I can confirm this to be true. Pacific Beach is party-town San Diego. Ocean Beach is pothead central. Coronado is old money and old people where water pollution is a pain in the ass South of the bay entrance and often compels beach closures. There is also a large amount of shark sightings prompting beach closures as well.

Oddly enough Coronado Beach was rated the top beach in the USA maybe two years ago.
