Thanks for the advise. I knew I was robbed, but it was getting dark and not many people around. I was a little bit worry about my safety at that time.

Maybe one day I'll be there often enough that I can do that second nature. But until then I always have to "divide pesos by 20 and then add a bit". Ninety+ percent of the transactions I make are with people who won't be screwed by the exchange rates, and so dollars are just much easier for me.

Maybe I will one day, it would be nice to chop up game with a legendary figure like Mr. Ent, years ago when I first found this encyclopedia of information I always read your post.

I urge any and all to stick it to the taxi mafia if all possible but that isn't always an option.
Agree. Back when I would walk across I would simply walk to the "overpass" and catch a Libre coming over the bridge, just like the locals did it. Always, always, always got 50 p rides to Zona Rio, never any static. Fuck the Amarillos.

Today I just drive across and take Uber at night.

On the way back I take the Hong Kong shuttle and tip the guy $2 if I am alone or $1 if with other guys.
If they only give you 200's, then you ask them to break one into smaller bills. They will. I've done it dozens of times. And I've often received change from taxi drivers, I've had them stop into an OXXO to get change on occasion. It's true many don't have much change, and getting anything over 50 p can be dicey at times.

Just handing over a $5 bill is easier, IF you carry dollars. For some of us, once we cross the border, it's all pesos, all the time. Once you begin doing that, you'll learn it, live it and love it. It's the first step in learning to think like a local.

    Bar La Carretta

Gave this bar a chance over the weekend. Unfortunately upon entry I was greeted by a tough guy waiter that applied his iron grips around my arm and tried to force me into following him. I resisted. He insisted. I thought that it was rude. So I grabbed his wrist and removed it from my arm. WTF is this strong-arm shit?

Avoid this bar people. It is across from Bar Valentina. Bunch of fooking amateurs stuck in the 70's business model of intimidating customers. Don't even look at them yelling at you as you walk through the alley.

No. I just get into whichever one drives up first. If you are using the same guy then chances are you are being ripped off. Nobody is going to drive across town to pick you up and take you somewhere for the 50 pesos that it is supposed to cost. Be serious.

For the guys that go to Tijuana often you don't you the same taxi guy? I met a good driver my first time and I use him when I go, hit him on WhatsApp and he already waiting. I feel he honest idk but I know I didn't use him one time and the dude got me 25 for a stop at a pharmacy and trip to zona rio from San Ysidro crossing.

A tip for you for getting Uber for after you cross, put your mobile in "airplane mode", and back on again. I was getting no signal for a while and remembered that triggers it to switch to Mexico cell towers.

Also, there is no Lyft in Tijuana.

Adelita's and Chicago now have shuttle service back to the border. I don't think there is a fee, but I tipped the driver a fiver anyways. I took Adelita shuttle as I stepped out onto the street from arriba the driver saw I was a legit Adelita customer that night and also asked which crossing I wanted to go to.

Took Chaparral PedWest crossing coming back 4 am absolutely no line at all.
