Gentlemen,

So, I decided book hotel Ticun for my third trip to Tijuana, this is the only hotel I have stayed at by the way.

Yesterday I had the all inclusive breakfast that they provide to you when you book your room.

After eating I was too full to take down the banana I grabbed off the buffet line. So I decided to take it with me.

To my room. As I'm walking to the elevator going up back to my room. I hear "buddy. Buddy" and foot steps running towards me.

I apologize for the bad sentence structure, missing words and typos. I was in a rush but you all can make out what I'm saying LOL.

New batch of Armenians arrived this week. The smoking circle is expanding outside the lobby again.

They are waiting for the fat fuck that gets them across illegally. He shows up every now and then to weasel vodka shots from his clients.

I feel like I see him almost every time I am here.

There's still some around for sure but it seems way less than my last visit 5 weeks ago.

This "petty ass dude" that works there in the restaurant before you get to the ballroom chased me down and told me that I could not.

Bring the banana to my room. I was like what? I didn't want to argue with him so I told to just take and get the hell out of my face.

He stated that the food must stay in the ballroom. At this time I'm thinking why does that even matter? I'ts a effin bananas bro?

Just by the way he acts I know his life has got to be bullshlt smh.

This is the first time this has happened. Not sure if any of you experienced this?

I have also noticed that they do not really hold the door open for foreigners as we are walking in and out of the hotel. Strange.

Only time. Was when I was walking with a local family or old Mexican people. Any other time. No.

This is why I rarely F*ck with this place.

Colombia and Brazil is more my speed.

This is true I'm here now and noticed that as well. I'm like what in the hell is going on. They took over some of the couches playing card games and shit. Talking and laughing all loud.

The college kid contingent hasn't filled up Revu for many years. It dropped off after 9/11 and disappeared during the 2008 recession when Tijuana was such a hotbed of violence, cops getting beheaded, and so forth.

The Mexicans have almost completely displaced the blacks in LA. LA is now about 7% black. Between the Mexicans and the insanely high housing prices in the rest of LA, the blacks have been pushed out to San Bernardino and the high desert.

Are the bloods and crips still around or have they all been killed by ms13.

In a couple of weeks, ill be heading down to Tijuana, but this time, I'll be using the border crossing at Otay heading into Mex by foot. This will be my first time using this crossing. Questions I have is if anyone used this before, and if there are taxis nearby to take me to my destination. Any response will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have crossed through Otay many times. When you go through the migra you will need to show your passport to get the travel pass. Then you will proceed into Mexico. As you are walking you will see some white taxis and will usually be asked if you want to take one. Don't use these as it will cost you at least 20 dollars to get down to the bars. You are about 20 minutes from the bars so it is a little more expensive to go through Otay. Instead, keep walking straight to the main highway, past several businesses on the right. When you get to the main highway there will be taxi libres right there and you should not pay more than 12 dollars. On the bright side, coming back from Otay is way better than through San Ysidro as there are rarely lines. If there are lines they will be very short. Maybe 10 minutes max.

At this border at last 2 yrs ago before I stopped using it, theres just 1 line for Mexicans and Americans. So if you are latino it can increase your chance of walking in and not needing a stamped passport book. The San ysidro crossing, has been stamping only 30% of the time the last month when I look twice a day. I would say in past they stamped 95% of time. When you cross you can keep walking and take the taxi bus. I did it couple times. Or if your timid there will be taxis waiting.

You don't say why you want to cross at Otay, but if you're headed to the Zona, it will be a much longer, more expensive, taxi ride.

Club mystery, madonnas, peanuts and beer, Caesar's strip club. That was all before you got to la zona. 5 dollar lap dances in madonnas and Caesars all night in those little booths. You could party all night and not get bored. Now I get bored in la zona in 1 hour. The constant sharks trying to test you. It's tiring. Before they might over charge you 1 buck for a beer but lap dances were five bucks so who cared. Room was 11 bucks. Girl was 60. Now it's 30.00 wine, robe fee, 100 for 30 minutes and the room for 30 minutes is ridiculous.

For sure, used to regularly see this very cute college aged girl at peanuts and beer, bb everything, all holes open for $50 a visit. Me and my buddies used to pass her around as our little sex doll. 20 years later and we still sit around and reminisce about that girl from time to time. I'm still shocked we never caught anything from her LOL. There was also Pussycats a little bit down the street, used to see some interesting shit on stage there, the girls were pretty wild. I didn't even used to step foot in the zona back then, there wasn't any need to. Those memories will live on forever.

I get the complaints about the price hikes. Cascadas's standard rooms were $55 weekdays /$75 weekends through the early part of COVID and have jumped 45-55% to $85 weekdays /$110 weekends over the past few years. But IMO it's still a good deal and not enough to make me not want to go LOL. Unlike USA (and other 1st world country) hotels, we're not having to pay taxes and fees on top of that rate and the increases are mitigated a bit with the VIP card. Also, part of this isn't just greed (though I understand much of it is) - the price hikes are consistent with the inflation we've seen pretty much everywhere the past year and a half or so.

As someone who's notoriously cheap, I don't see any of the price hikes as expensive or super unreasonable, though should be noted I am only in Tijuana 3 times or so a year.

Yeah, talking to a couple buddies who don't really frequent TJ that often, they have mentioned how they think Cascadas is very reasonably priced. I told them about Monday's and Tuesday's with VIP and their minds were blown LOL but they can't make it out during those days.

Yes indeed. Back in the late 90's and early 2000's Motel 6 San Ysidro was $39.99 or $35 with online coupon. You could park there. Shower and then maybe get another hotel in Tijuana for $25 for the night. Now parking alone on weekends is like $50.00 per 24 hrs. Fuck that. Motel 6 can be over $100 and was past $200 last summer. Fuck it. Another reason I am sticking with Thailand right now. Tijuana has priced us old school mongers out of the market.

Yup we had it so good back then. Club Mystery on revolucion. All you can drink for $20 entrance fee. 18-21 yr old white girls by the bundles. Some even younger with fake ID's. Late 90's, early 2000's. We'll never see anything like it in TJ ever again.
