Way more drug addicts and homeless.
How do the thieves know they are rental cars?

The CA attorney general says automobile theft was cleared at a 6. 8% rate in 2016, and Larceny-Theft crimes were cleared at a 16% rate in 2016. None of their crime categories have ever been as low as 1% in the past decade.

I've never seen anything like it in my life I almost got attacked by crack heads twice in last 7 days once was on the trolley. There's a reason armed guards patrol the trolley. Best thing to do is park near the beach hide laptop in the seat cushion the thieves will only have a minute or two but if they pop the back window 20 crack heads a day will be dipping hands into the car. Really? In San Diego for business at least every three months. Never had any issues, and sure as hell would not leave my car windows rolled down to invite trouble. Don't know which alternate universe you live in, but this is not the San Diego I l know. Relatively safe, say, compared a lot of other cities. Take the target off your forehead and enjoy life a little.

Free parking off San Ysidro Blvd.

You can park on public streets a few days but must avoid street sweeping days. If your car is in the way of the sweeping truck, there are a bunch of hungry tow trucks following it to cash in.

Also don't park anywhere near NO PARKING, TOW AWAY signs, on private properties or in parking lots belonging to strip malls and stores too many hours or overnight. Store owners will call tow trucks. It's well known that local police get kick backs from their favorite tow companies. It's a racket.

The quickest, easiest and cheapest way to cross the border is to get a SENTRI / GLOBAL ENTRY card and drive over. The horny young chicas looooooove to go out on hot dates with guys driving nice, clean cars. Hehe.

I go at night so the 2 limit is not a concern. There is no 2 hour limit on the cul-de-sac by the Goodwill. Just avoid parking on the north side of that street. You can also park all day on the side street on the south side of that strip mall where thr 99 cent only store is located. In the city of San Diego you can park for 72 hours. Personally I would feel safer parking in a lot.

There are these no no parking tow signs like you see in parking lots and they claimed these applied to a public street.

OK. Enough. This has to be the dumbest piece of advice I've read on this board. Park in SY and leave your windows down?? Seriously? 20 Crack heads a day will dip their hands in your car if somebody breaks a window. But they'll not touch it if you leave them down.

Dude, you must be the unluckiest guy since Sound7 used to post about chicas giving him a short-arm inspection. You're mugged by a gang of at least 7, well-dressed English-speaking midgets. You wind up getting the only psychic cab drivers in Tijuana, the ones who know you have at least $250 in your pocket when they drop you at HK (as opposed to, say, a $5 bill and an ATM card). You are "almost" attacked twice in a week on the SD Trolley. I'm not sure how one is almost attacked. I think that's like almost pregnant.

How do you chain down a jacket?

You said you have a lady you see outside of the Zona. If you are truly this paranoid, and not a troll, why aren't you seeing her and avoiding the sewer that is the Zona Norte? Clearly it's not for you.

    Otay Parking.

Can I find free parking for 2 or 3 days near trolley stations? Which trolley station would be best option? I heard Oldtown trolley station is decent option but I'm not sure if there's free parking near there for multiple days. Also where are the $10 a day lots by otay mesa located?
The $10 all day parking at Otay is as follows:

Take the 94 freeway East to Siempre Viva Road (1st exit). Make a left at the light and a right on Roll Street (Starbucks on corner). 1st pay parking lot on left.

I went down to Tijuana 8 times last year. Left my car in that 8th street lot for 2-3 days each time. No issues.

Like Otay Mesa and Trolley options.

    Free parking in San Ysidro.

You can park free for a few days on side streets along San Ysidro Blvd, like Border Village Rd. Or East Beyer St.

Make sure you observe street signs for street sweeping days etc.

On East Beyer I have seen broken glass every time I walked by. I don't think it's worth the hassle and costs of risking your car broken into.

    GoodSense3.

Looking like I'm going mlk weekend for 3rd time coming from LA. Probably do 2 or 3 days sat-Tues. 16th or sun-Tues. 16th check-in and check-out. Last time I went parked at Jack-In Box by San Ysidro border but stayed 2 1/2 days and parking charge came up to $60+. Where are some parking places.
