Anyone know if there is a pedestrian entry INTO Mexico around PedWest? I would like to enter somewhere near where I exit, so I don't have to walk an extra mile to my car either on the way in or on the way out. Or is this now completely fucked?

And is the walk from the Zona to PedWest really longer than the walk from the Zona to PedEast? Looking at a map, it would seem that PedWest is closer to the Zona by at least a half a kilometer. But not if they zig zag you all over the place.

As of now, I haven't heard of an entry point going into Mexico around Pedwest. If so, that would also be a cluster fuck. So, the entry point should remain on the trolley side.

From the Zona, Pedwest is a lot closer! But at night, I would urge caution walking to Pedwest, just because of the rateros and the wonderful corrupt Tijuana polica; just my two pesos.

As Tomjackin said, I was able to come back the normal way with no problems with Global Entry. But for some reason everyone else was waiting behind the gate before that little house that the Mexicans go to for their visa or whatever. And the line extended pretty far back. Nobody moved out of that line during my walkthrough. It kind of looked like they were waiting for transportation to go somewhere else. When I got to the main immigration part there were only a handful of people going through. Do yourselves a favor and spring for Global Entry or Sentri. One of the best $100 that I have ever spent.

PedEast has been reduced to 4 to 5 lanes, but through the old visa building on the right. The new one will be built within 3 years. If you have Sentri / GE, you won't have much trouble at PedEast, but ready lane and others will be waiting for awhile.

Africans, Haitians, and folks from other countries were camped out at the old location, they are seeking asylum. They got moved to the bridge.

PedWest opened yesterday at noon. I tried it coming back last night; what a piece of shit! The walk is forever and a day, and when you do exit into the US, you are in front of the factory outlet mall.

I would consider staying at Hotel Ticuan (they have better food and much more comfortable beds and rooms). The only downside is that Hotel Ticuan is about a 5 minute (at most) taxi ride from the Zona. Still, just catch a cab and you are right back in the action.

I also recommend Hotel Ticuan, but have one additional warning. The rooms on the east side of the building can get very noisy all night long due to a huge dance club just east of Ticuan. I simply ask for a room on the west side and noise is not a problem.

When going between Ticuan and zona Norte during daylight hours I will walk. At night I take a taxi.

A couple of points I would like to hit on regarding your first visit:

1. Cascadas is in a very good location within the Zona, and the balcony at the hotel overlooks all of the action. Those are the plusses. However, in my opinion, the beds and pillows there are extremely uncomfortable every time I go. Thus, I never really get a good night's rest there. Consider a night or two perhaps at Cascadas, but if you are there at least 3 or 4 nights, I would consider staying at Hotel Ticuan (they have better food and much more comfortable beds and rooms). The only downside is that Hotel Ticuan is about a 5 minute (at most) taxi ride from the Zona. Still, just catch a cab and you are right back in the action. As for leaving Tijuana, the lines are quite long, but don't let that scare you. Try to leave between Midnight and 3 am or so. Not much later, and your wait to come back to the USA Will be 15 minutes or less. These are my experiences. Hope this helps.

Is the Christmas Holiday season to new year busy or very dead? I am looking to go either in Oct or around New Years.

Based on flights it looks like cheaper to fly into San Diego and then transit down. How is the border for non-Americans?

Am thinking of when I go to stay at the Cascades Hotel next to Hong Kong Club.
