Saturday afternoon I was walking back to Rizo, carrying a heavy load of mariscos and beers for lunch.

A tall, nice, clean young, light-skinned woman was pushing a stroller with a baby, crossing Coahuila towards the Church of the Ethel. Along the way she pleaded with mongers lining the street to buy gums. Nobody responded. They just ignored her.

When she got on the sidewalk, she stopped down, sighed and said to the baby in clear English "Everybody says no!" She looked and talked like a young American. I already walked past her with the heavy load, but turned around, gave her a couple bucks, said "Good luck to you. " She said " Thank you. ".

Felt so sad for her. If I was not carrying food for wingmen, I would have stayed longer to find out what happened to her. Damn sad.

I have been to La Cueva Del Pulido a handful of times. It is about a 10 minute drive from HK. It reminds me of the old Chavelas bar before HK expanded and took it over (which was a shame in my estimation). I have rarely seen any gringos in this bar but there have always been a handlful of good looking women in the bar. Drinks are cheaper than HK but the girls' drinks are about the same price (9 or 10 dollars). It's a nice change of pace and worth checking out.

My take has always been it's not necessarily the Spanish-speaking native Mexicans you have to worry about down there. In all my years going down to Tijuana I've never had a problem with any of them, they tend to be chill, laid-back, and hard-working. The Mexicanos living down there who speak clear English, sometimes even with no trace of an accent, those are the ones you SOMETIMES have to worry about, LOL. In particular the ones who hang in and around Zona Norte. A lot of them are deportees and there's quite often a not-so-nice reason they've been deported.

I agree if you hear any English in Tijuana run. For your life. All the people who attacked me were mexican Americans deported types, seaking English. 6 of them. All under 33 years old. The 2nd incident was on the 1 dollar bus in morning going back to border being chewed out and made fun of in Spanish by tatted Street looking gangsta looking mexican girls who derlserved to get their ass kicked if I wasn't in mexixo. They were begging me to do something so they could stab me right on tje bus in front of everyone. Most of these deported types wpuld never even be deported any more back then a dwi could get you deported from usa.

Not sure how long your visiting but you might want to check out Deja Vu also since it seems to be modeled more like HK were LCDP I would say is something like TB.

The Deja Vu website has a coupon for no cover as long as you don't arrive in a taxi or Uber since they have to pay a commission. If you do need a ride I'the just have the car drop you at Pueblo Amigo and walk over.

Very astute observations.

She looked and sounded like a very nice Caucasian with proper upbringing, not Latina. She may not be a deportee but possibly hooked up with a guy that got deported who quickly moved to La Zona to hang with his cartel contacts, so she moved with him.

Now he's screwing her everyday, saddling her with a baby, sending her out to La Zona to work.

According to the Gun Violence Archive (GVA), which tracks incidents of gun violence across the country, there have been 38 mass killings involving guns this year, defined as shootings in which four people or more are killed, not including the shooter. The number of mass killings this year is higher than in any year since at least 2006, The Washington Post reported.

GVA altogether recorded 630 mass shootings in which at least four people were shot (killed or injured, excluding the shooter) in 2023. In the past nine years, only 2021 and 2022 had more mass shootings than this year (to date).

Here are more grim statistics from 2023, according to GVA's tally (as of Dec. 5 at the time of publication):

1,571 minors under 18 years old have been shot and killed.

39,939 gun deaths, almost two-thirds of them suicides.

34,087 gun injuries.

Mass shootings are a uniquely American phenomenon. They take place in homes, supermarkets, places of worship, movie theaters, nightclubs, workplaces, concerts, college campuses and schools.

They are also an increasingly common part of childhood in America. Children from as young as preschool age are put through active shooter drills and trained on lockdown procedures in the event of a shooting. These drills have been found to have a profound impact on children's mental health, and experts often dispute how well they protect students, especially in the absence of more stringent gun laws, more proactive safety measures and competent law enforcement responses.

Meanwhile, efforts to limit access to guns an obvious and crucial factor in reducing mass shootings have repeatedly been rejected by lawmakers, the vast majority of them Republicans. Did you guys read about this kidnapping in Tulum. Someone tells police they see a taxi kidnap a guy. The Mexican police and army do a search and find him in a remote jungle and then when the guy says take the duct tape off his eyes and feet, the police tell him to wait until the prosecutors get here to take it off. Huh. Maybe you guys can explain.
