I read posts of "red alert" walker beware. And then posts from frequent travelers that Tijuana's no different then any other major city. Good thing there isn't a quiz at the end of the week.

What the fuck is "red alert?" I live in SD. I take the trolley down. I walk to the Zona day and night, sometimes 2 times a week. I have lived in Several large cities. I have less fear in Tijuana. I keep my head on a swivel. I do not drink. I walk with a purpose. I ask again, what the fuck is "red alert?' Are the "commies" coming? Are the Baltimore Riots creeping into Mexico?

Am I the only unlucky one that lives 3 hours away from Tijuana? Do you all guys are living in San Diego County? Any OC or LA say Here!

I think most of Tijuana party go'ers are obviously SD and LA people. I would assume those numbers hold up a bit here too. Sort of like the hoards of Aussies in Asia and takes me close 2.5 hours no traffic....3 hrs. Is a good day time drive

Thanks! I tried booking a room on their web site, but that has to be the worst site ever. You can't confirm room availability, so I guess you just pay and hope.

The other sites, booking.com, etc. , all want $10 more for the suite. That may be worth it in order to get a confirmation. Who knows?

Usually my company and I like to walk from the hotel to party spots in Centro, then back at night. I've driven by the place during the day, and at night the area is kind of sketchy. I think I'll stick with my humdrum regular place. It's boring but has a great location.

The frigging Ticuan is $1250 per night on the weekends now. I like the place but it's really not worth $100 per night.

I've stayed here a couple times. It's not bad, you can get a room for roughly $35. Jessica is the girl at the front desk and pretty nice. If your going on a weekend I would advise getting there by mid afternoon both Friday / Saturday.

Anybody have any positive experience with it. In the 16 + years of going to Tijuana, have yet to go in and pick one out. They seem to be the more conservative ladies. If that is possible. LOL.

I sure don't know about 'conservative girls', but I personally like the place and recommend everyone give it a try. There's an entire thread dedicated to the Tropical Bar on this forum, and the vibe is much different than HK, AB, etc. More of a laid back, dance with the chicas kind of place (they like that!) But you certainly can go arriba as well. I find many of the chicas can be as attractive as the HK girls, (YMMV) if not a bit more naive and shy at times. I've heard it's where many FOB's start out in the Zona and some go on to HK Club. If you are staying at the Cascadas you can take a TB girl there as well. Same owner.

One of the best Anal Queens I ever found in Mexico was in this bar a few years ago -- only a 7 looks wise, but that girl was up for any and everything.

It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I believe any interested Punter should give it a try. Then again, I like to try them all, Playboy, Chicago, etc.

I was hoping to stay at the Ticuan this Saturday night for the fight night. But I was under the assumption the Hotel part has not reopened since the fire. If you found rooms there on some site let me know. I have been checking Hotels com and it has been showing no availability.

1. 5 hours on a clean drive. 3 hours in traffic. Oceanside traffic often kicks my ass.

On Calle Primera next to Tranny Alley.

Inside Noise can be an issue due to doors facing a hallway that echoes.

Junior Suite can be had for roughly $50. Although very often taken.

Chicas should be no problem.

Hold onto your receipt. I've read about mgmt. Errors.

Some sex workers live there.

The consensus is for one or two nights its ok but maybe not longer than that.

According to this website, you only need to declare if you are taking $10,000 into the country, which is way richer than my blood.

You will not have problems crossing back to SY with $500 to $1000. Anything under $2-3 k is nothing to them. Maybe over $5 k they'll ask some questions but with a couple grand or less they won't even question it.

Concerned in what way? The US doesn't care. The MX gov't doesn't care. No need for concern in that regard.

However, carrying a lot of cash in a dicey part of town, aka The Zona, may not be the best idea. Try carrying only as much as you'll need. If you have a hotel room with a safe, use it. If it's just a day trip, take as much as you think you'll need, plus, say, $20 for emergency. Leave a $20 in the car to pay your parking, just in case you somehow manage to leave all your money in MX. Do not ask how I know this.
