I haven't been in Tijuana in a while and I'm planning a trip,. Does anyone know if they still working on that entrance, do you still have to cross the walking bridge to the other side to get into Tijuana by foot?

I've been told you have to go to the other side where the trolly station is to cross into Tijuana.

I used to take the exit ramp at camino la plaza and drive straight to the last parking lot for $9 and just walk thru the iron spinning gate or whatever the name is and take a taxi by the McDonalds to the zona.

How do you do cross by foot nowadays?

Uhhhhh, in a simple word No! Even the larger town of Ensenada (another hour or so south) is very limited in bar selection (I. E. I recall Anthony's and one or two strip bars which are a big hustle) and even more limited in quality of chicas, and you tend to pay more than Tijuana prices. Yes 10-14 years ago I partied and played in both Rosarito and Ensenada when the P4 P scene was in full swing and had to really work to find a doable chica, nothing compares to HK or AB.

Go to Rosarita or Ensenada to relax and enjoy the playa then come to Tijuana to play.

Yeah, I kinda figured that when I searched the Web for places to have fun with chicas. I knew my buddies made the mistake when they booked the weekend in rosarito. I know by 11 pm we will be urging for HK club and the alley. How dangerous is it traveling late night to the Zona from Rosarito? Is it worth the risk between 11 pm and 4 am?

Yes, it sounds different. I've had people call and, when I answered, asked if I was in Mexico because the ring sounded different.

This assumes, of course, that your phone will work in Mexico. You must have international call roaming.

I believe the ring or Tone, however you want to call it, is different. A friend of mine called me several moths ago while I was in Tijuana and told me it sounded much different.

I have no experience in Tijuana, but in the states, as soon as you admit you had at least I beer, they will do a secondary investigation. If you say no, they may ask you more questions, looking for signs you have been drinking. Never say just one. Who drinks just 1 beer?

Yes, I agree. I knew it was a mistake the second it escaped my lips. I wasn't hammered and I don't think I smelled of alcohol. The kid was in his 20's, so he probably had little experience anyway. I should have just said no. In my particular case, over the past 3+ hours, or so, I'd had three beers, one shot of mescal, several dances at Las Pulgas, some carne seca and two street hot dogs. My last beer had been about 30 minutes before being stopped.

What about in Phord's case? Something showed up but it wasn't over the limit. Couldn't the cops get you for lying if you told them you had nothing? Otherwise I totally understand your theory.

I have a personal interest in this matter since I plan to move to the area in the coming year.

In the States, anyway, it's not illegal to lie to the cops. In Mexico, on the other hand, I have no idea. I do know this little trailer was brightly lit and had virtually zero privacy. I felt pretty sure that there would be no way to bribe ones way out of it because there was no place to surreptitiously slip the slimy little weasel a few bux.

I drive only because most of the girls I know live somewhere near Otay, and it's a PITA getting around Tijuana without a car. Going to the love motels is a pain without a car and it's hard to find a lot of my favorite "off the beaten track" restaurants without a car. However, whenever I'm going out drinking or dancing I always park my car at the hotel and cab it wherever I go. This trip I wasn't staying overnight, and didn't plan to get hammered, so I figured it was OK to drive. I guess, ultimately, it was. But never again.

In fact it is good to know that the TJPD did not shake you down, did not plant a small bag of cocaine in your wallet, did not steal any cash from you, did not take you for a ride in the darkest part of Tijuana to scare the shit out of you. Instead, they did what they were supposed to do as police and LET you GO when they found out that you did not go over the limit. If it were SDPD, you might not be so lucky. The least of which was that your pretty girlfriend might have to do something to get you out of the situation.

It is good to know that TJPD is not as corrupt as the SDPD, at least in this incident.

At least you pretty much know what to expect with a Tijuana cop. I've been robbed by Tijuana cops! San Diego is a whole different story. Complete ASSHOLES! And I know a few of them. I know a few that travel (Quite questionable conduct coming to Tijuana! That they would not want their supervisors to know!) On the otherhand if it were OK to go there probably less sexual-conduct problems on the force / shit who are we kidding THERE WOULD be problems!
