Yes you are correct. You get free transfer with bus & trolley'2 for 2 hours.
As far as the Middletown Station stop near the airport rental car center I've never tried that stop. Found it more straightforward to take the 992 into downtown and then transfer to the blue trolley..

Catching 992 is much more convenient and the bus ride takes you along beautiful harbor blvd.
