YMMV by SG. But in my experience, $30 for chica and $5 for room will get you pretty much all you want. I had one chica tell me that $30 covers only 2 positions. (Told her OK. You do the work, CG and RCG haha). I've been quoted as high as $40. I once paid $35 for a 9 in my book. I hear many can get down to $20. My experience, either you tell them your price or ask theirs. But literally walk away from their first offer, unless she is a 9-10 that you just can't miss. With SGs, volume is in your favor. HK, slightly different equation, in my opinion.

I have already commented on this so forgive me for beating a dead horse. But your comment, along with Niguno's comment speak to me. This is about supply and demand. The reason Tijuana is so inexpensive is because of supply. When you compare it to the US, the root cause is legality. There is no supply shortage in Tijuana and barring major social changes, there never will be. There is a point where the savings do not offset the hassle of travel, border crossing, etc. You also have several types of mongers. The frequent locals (who will be the first to be upset with increases), the occasional visitor, and then the guy who plans an annual trip (who is probably most willing to overspend given the investment).

I am not local but I do my part in not overpaying, be it with a SG, escort or BG. I've also taken several lessons in the "better service" argument. Bottom line, you said it, when they leave my room, I am forgotten. Yes, they'll be more likely to look for me next time. First let me report that there was an incident of an American looking Hispanic guy who was standing in the alleys outside HK back entrance. His ear was slashed and bleeding bad. HK staff had tried to help him by giving him a proper bathing tower, but half the towel was soaked red. I did not stick around to ask him details, because cops showed up and did not allow people to walk up to him. Seems he may have been engaged in some altercation or more likely some ratero may have tried to rob him. But all this being right close to the alley is scary. Because many of us are hanging out in this area..

I knew of several guys many years ago that were caught by Tijuana Policia with marajuana in their possession. Back then the laws in Tijuana about pot possession were fairly harsh. Each of these guys worked out bribes (one was a fairly large three-digit bribe as I recall). After they worked out payment with the Policia they were handed back their MaryJane. When I first was told these stories (a little more than a decade ago) I was amazed. I thought it was strange that in both these events they were given their pot back. That would never have happened back in the United States in similar situations at that time. But I was told this was not unusual for Tijuana. I spoke about this story with lots of seasoned vets back then. They all told me the same thing. In Tijuana you get your marijuana back after paying the bribe-that's typical for Tijuana.

I still found that hard to believe, even with everyone telling me this is how it works in Tijuana. Overtime I thought about it a lot. It began to make sense. When a Tijuana cop accepts a bribe, his immediate next action is to pretend a crime never happened. He conspires with the person giving the bribe. If there's a bag of pot around. ,. after receiving the bribe, the officer will simply want to make the bag of contraband disappear. So better to give the pot back to the tourist than keep it in the cop's pocket. I know this sounds a little crazy from our United States perspectives, but that's just how this type of thing goes down in Tijuana.

Within the last couple of years possession of small amounts of pot and other illegal drugs have been decriminalized for Mexican residents. Instead of punishing locals for possession, the are instead often sent into rehab programs and not jail. The loosening of the drug laws are for Mexican residents, I don't think the law changed for tourists. But one of the effects of the law change has resulted in Tijuana Policia becoming easy on tourists as well.

It is hard to predict how this situation would have turned out if you had not gotten involved. But it is possible, in this current LE climate in Tijuana, that your student amigo might have gotten off without even paying a mordida. His actions clearly represented more of an understanding of current police practices than you are giving him credit for.

But this student guy decided that he had to get his bag of weed back from the security guy, who was nowhere to be found. Just then we saw the security guy walking back towards Malquerida with a police officer. I told the student guy that we need to walk away now. But he insisted he would stay. So I told him that I would leave if he did not come with me. So I walked a bit of a distance away. Maybe 10 feet and watched them.

Clearly the security guy (the English speaker, who was acting as the good cop) and the actual police officer (the bad guy. The hammer) were scaring this guy rough. They gave him 2 options. Either pay a hefty fine or go to court and do jailtime in Mexico. They asked him what his preference was. This fool asked them how long the sentence was. To which the security guard replied 'at least 6 months'. The student replied promptly without hesitation 'then I will go to jail'. The security guy was getting mad. The student was not getting the message that this was merely a shakedown. So against better judgement I offered my help. I tried to calm the situation and I told the security guy "he is a very simple guy. Let's be reasonable. We can come to an agreement" etc. Etc. This pleased the security guard very much. The policeman got very aggressive with me and started asking me questions in Spanish. Security guy calmed him down and after a lot of back and forth we negotiated a sum of $20. In my opinion this was a good outcome for all involved. The amount was paid via a third party and we started walking away. All good.

But then this student said he will go back and get his weed. What a loser. He did go back and ask the cop for his bag. The cop gave it back to him, but shouted at him immediately after and asked him to go F his mother etc. The student just put the cop's job in jeopardy in public. I mean why else would the cops involve a third party for the payment? This guy clearly could not see beyond his bag of weed.

After this was all done, I told him to go and keep the bag immediately in his hotel room in a safe pace. Just as I finished my sentence, this student decided to pop into one or two other bars. With the bag of weed that had just been confiscated in Malquerida. This time he did not even put the bag into his pocket, but was carrying it in the palm of his hand. I shouted at him "Stop, what are you doing? But he would not listen and went into a bar. I just kept walking and deserted him. He clearly did not learn any lessons that night.

Sorry man. If you are reading this (to the student). But it is the truth. At least from my point of view.

In a word, yes! The restaurant analogy is flawed for many reasons. Waitresses do not set prices. Chicas do. Tips to waitresses and tips to chicas are two very different issues. So yes, I strongly believe that overpaying changes the prices in the future.

Also, the Kia / BMW analogy speaks volumes! But I dare see, BMW owners don't own BMWs by paying double on their expenses.

Philosophically speaking, when one of us gives a chica a huge tip, he is ruining the chica's mindset. Why, because while the chica may feel elated upon receiving that one huge tip, she is forever going to be disappointed by every other future, lesser-value tip.
