    Thanks for the info!

It's all part of the government plan to preserve social security. There is a stockpile of ventilators stashed somewhere secret for break glass in case of war, but in the meantime, Uncle Sam will kick back and watch his social security liabilities go down and down.

Here is how it works in the ICU. When a doctor is down to 1 ventilator and he has 3 patients unable to breath on their own, he gives the ventilator to the most likely person to survive. So the ventilator is given to the younger healthier person. So all this 1% or 2% debate is really worthless. You the patient just has to somehow convince your doctor you are healthier and younger than his other patients. I have many relatives working in health care. This is exactly how it works.

The good News: Only 88 Americans died in NYC in the last 24 hours, down from 134.

The bad News: Over 2,000 Americans died in the last 30 days, and the trend is upwards.

    Trip report

Was in need of some action so decided to take a chance and visit Tijuana. Arrived around 8:30 pm. Things were fairly slow, but there was still around 20-25 SG's / SW's around Brittany told me that she would be available. Walked around and I happily ran into Kayla. I was not expecting to run into Kayla. Got a good BBJ / facial. Headed on back around 10 pm. One advantage of visiting Tijuana now is that Coronavirus has not been spreading rampantly or at least that we know of. My guess is that the Coronavirus will spread like wildfire in Tijuana. The Mexican immigration was not doing any screening and did ask me any questions. The US customs only asked me what I visited TJ for.

    Mexico isn't Italy

Since it's the very old and very sick who are dying, the reason Italy and Spain have so many dying is because there are so many senior citizens in their populations. Italy has the seconds highest percentage of seniors of any country in the world (after Japan), Spain is #20. Mexico is not even close, their median age is 30, while in Italy it's 45. Also, Mexico will react differently since Mexico is used to calamities. So far in 2020, in Baja California they have murdered aprox. 1000 people in the first three months alone! Mexicans are fatalistic bunch anyway.

Some claiming we will have millions of deaths in the US. We are experiencing a mortality rate of 1. 5%. And without a doubt, that number is inflated. That number is based on the known infection rate. We all agree that the number of infections is higher due to a low testing rate. Accounting for that, the mortality rate is more likely 0. 4%, not much higher than the flu.

For perspective, this virus, that has shut down the world's economy, is something that can be killed by a lysol wipe.

I'll reiterate, I'm no expert on infectious diseases. But I do think that there are some in our country that can't help but throw gasoline on the fire and work us all up. If the mortality rate is truly around 0. 4%, are we overreacting? I would say 100% yes. That's just my opinion and you are welcome to yours.

But I stand by my premise. This study is fake news. It's not a study at all. It's a prediction based on modeling. Like any news story, we'd all be better off understanding the whole story, not just the headline.
Dcrist0527, well said sir. Your logic is sound and explanation is articulate.

The news organizations are reporting what the doctors and scientists are ALL telling them. But of course you know better!

Again, ask yourself the quality of Tijuana's medical care. Is it better or worst than Italy? And again the issue is doing.

Your part to in the fight against Cov19 to prevent killing off people, not what your personal risk level is.

"In China, the mortality rate for CV-19 has been 4%. In Italy, it's about 10%. In Iran, it's about 7.6%. In Germany, it's less than 1% and in the USA, where the outbreak is just getting underway, it's about 1.5%."

Personally I am playing things by ear and see how things develop. The risk vs reward factor is too great. There is not a lot SG's / SW's around and there is Corona Virus risk as well. One problem is that Mexico's president is not taking the Coronavirus threat seriously. So there is not a lot of testing and the health care system is in bad shape as well. Hopefully the Coronavirus will not run rampant in Mexico.

There's a nursing home in New Jersey where all 84 residents are presumed to be infected. I wouldn't be surprised if every one of those 84 is dead within 2 weeks. People are dropping off like flies, and so far we're talking about developed "first world" countries. It hasn't even started taking hold in poor third world countries yet.

Spain has arrested over 1000 people over the last week for not staying home. This sheet is real. It's not "fake news". Imagine if things really start getting bad in places like Texas or Sinaloa where everybody and their grandma is armed to the teeth. They'll start shooting each other over hospital beds and medical equipment.

Also consider US / Canada / Europe have reserves to provide welfare safety net so people don't starve and the hospital system doesn't collapse. Do you think Mexico has a trillion dollars laying around that they can support everybody for six months if unemployment skyrockets? If you think crime is bad now. All I can say is god have mercy.
