Posts: 3193Hmm. A bar that requires a passport to visit, serves hamburgers and hot dogs, has a selection of the very worst American beers, employs gringa waitresses, and is located in one of the worst neighborhoods in Tijuana. Sounds like a recipe for success to me!

As far as Larry the San Diego chef. He was released from the Mexican prison alive but in very poor health, due to him not getting the medication he needed while in prison.

Posts: 2420Watching games, having a bud, kick back and relax. I get 90 percent of this at HK. I guess I'm missing just the burgers, pool table and dart board. Personally I would spend about 10 minutes in the bars you guys described because there is a lack of naked women.

Posts: 2569Personally I am very careful about the girls I choose in the Zona. Typically I only go with the US girls. There is only 1 or 2 Mexican SG's that I trust. I have found that the SG's on Constitucion to be more reliable and more willing to please. Sometimes I will go the Karina if I cannot locate a US girl. The downside is that she went on vacation for awhile.

Posts: 144Freelance Bar / Sports Bar
I like to think of "Caliente" Sports Book in the Zona as being that sorta place at the moment. I usually like to start there (while getting a glimpse of the girls while entering). Then, I enjoy going in there a couple more times during the day / night to relax and watch some sports. The problem is that 1. It is not a bar. There is no bar. 2. A lack of music 3. A lack of women (however, perhaps we are trying to get away from that by going to the sports bar). 4. The interior is not too pleasant. So, yes. I do agree that the freelance sports bar might work especially if it showed something "other" than soccer as well as offering food and beverage items that appealed to an American audience (hot dogs, burgers, sandwiches, fries, etc.). Promotions on drinks and food should also be implemented (of course) for Monday-Night Football, March Madness, College Bowl Games, the World Series, NBA Finals, NHL Finals, Triple Crown Racing Events and more. Monday Night Football should also offer quarter by quarter drawings for cash, food, drinks and T-shirts from the bar. The sports bar should have a bit of sex-appeal however, such as female bartenders and attractive servers. Service staff should be American, and service standards should tower above what we see currently in TJ. Perhaps some these girls could be recruited from SDSU or UCSD. Uniforms should consist of "referee" tops and black shorts for the female servers and the female bartenders should wear jeans and low-cut tops. Maintain in mind however that this bar may also appeal to a segment of the local market (Spanish-speaking market), so hiring a couple of service-minded, attractive local TJ girls might also work. Coors, Budweiser and Miller products (American beers) should also be sold along with the local Mexican beers (Tecate, Sol, Dos Equis, etc.). The bar ideally should provide a couple pool tables and maybe some electronic darts. Still, for those of us who wager, it might be a plus for "Caliente" to place a betting kiosk or window in there. I would also expect that prices would be a bit higher at this sports bar than what is around the area in terms of food etc. Beers and spirits should have roughly a 30% to 40% mark-up. As for decor, all of the televisions (25% big screens, and 8 to 10 60" TV's) are strategically aligned with every seat in the bar. A mix of 30% booths, 30% tables (4-tops) and 40% chairs at the bar is ideal. Satellite must be utilized along with a formidable A/V system. As a final plus, the bar should offer a van that gives visitors free rides to the Ligna (Ligna only - not to hotels) if needed. The van then serves as a mobile billboard as well. Two Security Officers / Agents would also be utilzed (one at the main entrance to screen patrons entering) as well as to maintain a clean and safe entrance. The other individual would simply act as a "bouncer" in the bar, thus he would be in casual clothes seated at one of the bar stools. Video surveillance would include four five shots including bar, the entrance, the main seating area and the two POS registers. Traditional advertising (Print, Direct Mail, TV Commercials, Newspapers, etc.) will work, but mobile-marketing will serve as quite effective. Texting promotions and SMS marketing will assist in attracting customers who cross the border. 2 for 1 coupons should be included in these text offers. A relationship with Cascadas should also be developed offering room discounts (50%) with a minimum order of $50 in food and drinks. Then, a "kickback" from the sports bar to Cascadas would occur on a monthly basis for their realized revenue loss. The construction of a creative web presence to connect with local customers as well as American tourists is paramount. A presence on Social Media is also needed including Facebook, Pinterest, and perhaps Twitter. Try not to be limit TV coverage to only one sport. TV's should used ESPN & ESPN2 as base lines (early morning and mid-day as well as late night) and be placed on Basketball, Football, Soccer, Baseball, Golf, Olympic events, Boxing, UFC, and more during prime times. The bar would also offer free storage for people with luggage etc. should they decide to leave town after the bar. As for a payment system? Dollars are encouraged, but pesos are accepted along with debit cards. The peso rate, however, will be below standard as to encourage payment in dollars. Thus, if the standard bar peso rate is 17.8, the sports bar will use a rate at 10% less resulting in a rate of 16 pesos or so. As for a name? Perhaps "Johnny Z's Sports Bar; "The Upper Deck Sports Bar", or "The Grand Slam Sports Bar". Food for thought perhaps. Not sure if it will ever happen, so "Caliente" sorta serves that need for now, but that really is not saying much.

Posts: 6523Yep. Cannot think of another place on earth where you can have so much fun in the bars or in the street 24/7 for less money. Hehe.
If you know Guadalupe, you must have been around Tijuana for decades. She's still working day time in front of the parking lot and police office.
She has stiff competition recently. Try the new DF spinners in front hotel Ibixa. They are so pretty, looking like movie stars.

Posts: 6523Larry, the San Diego BBQ chef, started Nikki's near La Zona. I came by a few times. He could not find good-looking girls to work in his bar / restaurant / hotel. The women were so old and ugly. The food was not fresh, prices were high. They could not pay me to fuck those fugly women. I never came back.
Larry brought in women from Colombia to work the bar and the hotel, which is illegal in Mexico. The women got pissed off and ratted on him. He and his lieutenants were arrested on a number of charges, including prostitution and [CodeWord908]. As far as I know, he's still in federal prison in Mexico City awaiting trial. He probably won't get out that mess alive.
There are a lot of risks and unknowns doing business in Mexico. A freelance bar would be very nice but who can recruit good-looking young girls like Hong Kong? Other bars in La Zona, Chicago, see&G, New York, Golden Palace, Valentina, Play boy, cannot recruit good-looking girls like Hong Kong.
So unless you know how Hong Kong recruits, and can do better, forget about it!

A freelance bar would be ideal but just a regular, laid back bar to hang out in between sessions would be nice. Even a sports bar or something like that would be OK. Why can't someone make this happen?
But yeah, this has to be the only major mongering locale in the world without a freelance bar.
I'll post a full report in the next couple of days, but to make this post relevant to the thread, I went up with a street girl in front of Valentina today that I can recommend, forgot her name but she's from Veracruz, really good session for a 200 peso sg. I'll get her name and more info tomorrow.

Where else you can get a free drink and lapdance, upon arriving? Do some other major groping in the foam, and just standing around, with young cute hotties? For just a handful of one dollar bills. Then, good and ready, hit the street, to find the diamond in the rough. Interview all around the area until I find the one. Maybe she is a trusty repeat. Like the wonderful Valentina, solid Amí, by the clam stand towards the Chicago Club side, or pretty new Mari Chuy, by the west end of the alley by the pay phone, or Renata, even mature Guadalupe. Or even more happily, somebody new to me, which happens, even though my tastes are off-putting to many of the girls. There are many hotties who do accept my fantasy. Like some of the new spinners by the Ibiza. Better yet is breaking-in somebody new to the Zona. Oh, did I say that the sessions usually end up $25, with room and incentive / tip, and about a half hour. The price is 300 pesos naked, and I make sure I explain exactly what my wishes are, and if they accept the deal, I let them know that I pay them afterward, and for exceptional service in pleasing me, they will get a generous propina, which we both almost always get, making it 460 total, counting the room. Almost enough change from a 500 peso bill for a drink back at Hong Kong where I go to recover for my next nut, chill a bit, get in a few more one dollar gropes, rinse and repeat. Some of you might put down Tijuana and its scene, but it works for me.

I do agree with you that some / most do come across as airheads either stuck up or just in the wrong business but the 10% you speak of is what I'm looking for, I don't give myself room to engage in any negative energized sexual encounter.

Posts: 6523The ugly and obese escorts
Most of the escorts don't look too good, older and heavier than I like. I went to a party where an agency introduced its girls. The women were so obese and ugly, one 7-month pregnant, WTF?
They cannot even pay me enough to spend 5 minutes with those old, obese ugly women, left alone sleeping all night with them! So I gave up on escorts.
You can find many HK girls who would do all night date after their shifts, for about $100 a day, $200 for 2 solid weekend days. Some girls even date old gringos for free, going out to dinner, movies, to the beach on their days off, instead of cooping up in hotel Cascada's tiny room.
