I would agree, for better or worse, they are more humble and straight forward. I have not heard the term advanced mongering. I hesitate to say it is more complex but you are definitely on your own. My Spanish is very limited. I will say that on my first visit, the SG experience was a bit overwhelming. The selection, the negotiation can be overwhelming at first. Headed to Tijuana and arrived around 5:30 pm. Walked around for a bit and saw Angel in the alley. Angel was walking with another guy. So kept on looking. Did not see as many SG's as usual. Not really sure why. Tried calling Lindsey and Summer, but they both said they were not available for another hour. I noticed this new US girl on Constitucion in the store north of the alley. The BF would push the stroller with the baby out of the apart so she could see guys. The place smelled fetid, probably crack cocaine.

If you have a Mexican phone, then you can just text them as you would anybody else in Mexico. Their whatsapp number is their phone #. So, they may tell you to use whatsapp, but if you simply call or text that number you will probably get through to them. The advantage of Whatsapp is primarily for international calling, messaging (free), and video chat. The disadvantage to a hobbyist is that the whatsapp recipient can see the profile picture associated with your account (. However, there's nothing that prevents you from putting up a picture of your pet hamster for a profile pic). I think edecanes prefer it because there is video chat. They can check you out before you hookup.

If you have a US phone, like I do, then you simply have to put +52 in front of their 10 digit number.

The guys walking around with clipboards are likely Health Inspectors. I see them occasionally in the alley insisting on seeing health cards of new girls.

I met some of the prettiest, sweetest, gentlest, happiest girls in Tijuana bars and streets. They would all deny having pimps. In my impressions, most are single mothers, who got into the business to support their babies after being impregnated and dumped by their crooked, selfish BF, and just swear off getting new BFs after the traumas. They are mostly vulnerable young women, doing what they can to survive in a very rough society. Some are probably in bad relationships, working to support their BFs, but I have not met any girls in Tijuana who are coerced, trafficked and exploited by violent pimps as in the US. I know a few very pretty street girls living happily with shabby older guys, presumably working to to feed and house them. You can call them BFs, padrotes or pimps. If you ask the girls for their tels, those who give out are independents, those who refuse are likely in tight relationships, perhaps even trafficked or pimped.

But some Mexican girls are definitely trafficked as reported by the pimping industry in Tenancingo, Tlaxcala. Also the cartels are known to be getting into the lucrative business of kidnapping and trafficking young girls. Always look out for signs of trafficked humans and take steps to prevent them.

I hope the doctor's wife is still in good shape, personally tested and checked up by her husband regularly, and they have a happy family life. Hehe.

I've lived in some of the "worst" ghettos, barrios, and and / or on the streets of the US for most of my life. I've never saw a single case of sex trafficking. I have however seen a whole lot of girls who have deep inner desires to be working girls. Society has made them feel shameful for having those desires, so when someone comes along and offers them a way to act on those desires without taking responsibility for them, they often accept and appreciate that. That doesn't mean that all enjoy being a working girl to literally anyone they see, but her desire to please her pimp, who's given her the key to act on her desires, and the pleasure she gets from doing that keeps her out there every day. No one in the US or Mexico is truly forced into sex work. There are places in world where people are out of legitimate life or death poverty, but not here. If a girl here truly wants to get away, there are many organizations who'll help her do that very easily.

100% agree, the media overstates this issue. And I have absolutely zero knowledge about anything like that in Tijuana. But I also know with certainty it occurs in the US. Again, probably nowhere near the numbers the media would like us to believe. But I do believe, as consumers of more legitimate businesses, we have a duty to call it out if and when we see it.
