That's one terrible piece of advice. A smart man would everything possible to avoid physical confrontation with Tijuana street criminals, who usually operate in groups. Who gives a damn if I retreat to avoid getting injured (or worse)? You are basically in a third world foreign country, where police will just as likely to look another way, or take advantage of you.

You can go ahead and fight these dirtbags, if you think it makes you a "real man". Which in reality it make you a fool.

What if you have no other choice I guess in your case because your a "smart man" you would have the KY ready to defend yourself? My only guess those here looking for excuses against fighting to save your life are more likely to get beat up or killed.
