You can always walk across, too, and save another $10. It may be faster than taking a cab and only takes about 20 minutes. I have done this many times and never had any problems except the hawkers trying to sell you something. I just wear my ipod amd ignore them.

To each his own but I would not suggest you walk, and especially so if you return after 9:00 or so in the evening. I have never walked personally but I have seen enough scary looking guys while in cabs. My monger friend who taught me about TJ told me his only problem in 20y of going was walking and getting attacked near revolution. He had to fight off 2 guys and he was an ex marine but took some major cuts and bruises.

If $10 is too much to spend I guess you could risk it. I spend a lot the 10-12 times a year I head to TJ so I never worry about the cab fares. Be safe though as many mongers have gone wrong walking or drinking to much.

For the time and effort you put in I would do two. Just another $20. After your first hang around have a couple of tacos and maybe a beer if you drink and you should be ready for your next shot. A lot of times the second one better, it takes a little longer and u feel more rewarded..

As you get some experience, you might become complacent and think you know the game. That's the point when you need to realize you NEVER "know" the game. Mongering is a "practice," you NEVER know everything, all you can do is take what you learned and "practice" it, getting better and better each time out.

It's your game, you might play it differently than others, but it's still your game. There are "constants" in the game, many are covered in Brokton's guide, you should read it over a few times.

Always use a condom, always be respectful and mindful of what's going on around you, never stray off to someone's apartment -stay in the Zona. You will develop a solid "common sense" about the place in due course.

Some good advice for those who travel to TJ to enjoy the Chicas........

Always, always be a gentleman, gracias no goes a long long way in almost every uncomfortable situation....... always trust your instincts....... never allow yourself to get overly intoxicated...... never allow yourself to be allured by anyone especially an american on the street to a good deal........ always keep several stashes of cash on different parts of your body...... always stay in safe areas......... always keep several extra condoms on your person at all times...... last but not least while with the ladies learn to live in and bask in every moment you are in TJ as these precious moments are very fleeting!
