Dental implants are very expensive, The average implant in TJ is about U$1k per tooth.
Gas expenses can add up for repeat dentist visits if you live far away from TJ.
Most dental insurances in the U.S. won't cover cosmetics like crowns, bridges implants etc.

I know this is a SG thread but I wanted to briefly add something on this subject.

I got root canal last year by a very good endodontist with a crown by an equally good general dentist in TJ for $450 total.

I was told it would be three times that in the states by a lesser qualified dentist who said he couldn't save the tooth.

Went alone to AB at 5PM, wasn't that crowded, spent 15 mts and headed to Alley. Allaey was pretty much empty. Nothing as per the previous postings. Spent 30 mts and had 4 SOL beers for $7 and went to alley again. This time one 5/10 chica standing near to HK. Her name was Zenith from Mexcocity. She told $20 for her $5 for room. Went upstairs and it was one of the worst experiences. She charged $5 for being naked and $5 for doggie. She started forcing me to finish, finish. What ever you talk only response is No Comprendo. Very bad experience. But will keep trying. Back by 7:30 PM. Everything was smooth.
