Mexico is not the US, the standard of living is much lower, the wages are much lower. It's obvious, but too many Americans forget and waaay overpay. $60 is what a lot of people make in a WEEK in TJ, and a BG can get than in a half hour. $80, or 133% of MSRP, is huge money. BTW, $60 is the suggested retail and nobody, IMHO should be paying that.

For a crude comparison, the median annual wage in the US, last year, was just over $50K. That averages to $961 a week. So, 133% of that is $1278. You wouldn't pay a Kansas City hooker that kind of money, nor should you pay a TJ lass $80. Tipping for extra-good service is OK (but it's still a gringo custom) but $5 is more appropriate.

We've all seen what the Japanese have done to many places in Thailand by throwing around huge sums of money, as well as what the Americans have done to Costa Rica doing the same thing. So, a lot of us are just sensitive to prices.

Depends on which disease you are concerned about. BBBJ still involves the mouth, which is just as disease prone as the panocha. Of course, saliva does not carry the really bad diseases. There are no rules here, affordable has nothing to do with the rates, we all like to keep prices down if you know what I mean if you overpay next time I go there they might ask $80 or worse $100, so we all try to work together in keeping the prices down, yes in the U.S. you can pay more but you're in Mexico where $80- $100 is the average weekly worker salary, people you need to understand that if you pay $300 or more here in the U.S. it does not mean $200
