I hope this is true and that you're right. I hope this idiot murderer gets life in prison and suffers every day. But I don't know how much faith I have in the Mexican criminal justice system that they will properly punish this guy. If this guy's family can put up 5 or 10 grand or more that might go a long way in getting him a good plea deal or a light prison sentence. And once he's in prison if he has money coming from friends family he'll live comfortably. And I don't really think many Mexican criminals really give a damn or are offended by some guy killing a prostitute, so I doubt his fellow inmates will attack him based on what he did. Honestly I'd prefer he get extradited and prosecuted in the US where I have more faith in the courts and prison system.

US prisons are not much better than the Mexican ones.

Well said. The speculation on this board is getting a bit overblown. This is tragic and lessons to be learned for many. I don't recall the exact number but this murder number 236 in Tijuana. This year! It's salacious. It's gained all sorts of attention. And it's different because a gringo perpetrated it. But should this one murder cause panic? It's 1 of 236. And this M. O. Is extremely rare.

That poor girl, only 19. Well I won't be going into any clubs in Tijuana that don't do a weapons check from now on. You could have drunken words with a maniac like this over some little thing and end up dead in a heartbeat.

There is no possible way, short of body cavity searches, to determine if someone is carrying a weapon. If someone wants to get a gun or knife past the thick necks he will find a way. Even if they installed metal detectors, I can still get a non-metalic knife or gun or whatever past them. As someone else pointed out, there are weapons on the streets, in the hotels, etc, and someone definitely doesn't need to be drunk to kill you. There are many ways to get killed in Tijuana or any other major city. Anytime you come to la zona, you are putting yourself at risk for a number of things that can kill you--not just knives and guns. People who come here need to be aware of that risk and decide for themselves if it's worth it.

Having said that, if you stay reasonably sober, don't do stupid things, and you don't look helpless to defend yourself, there's a very small chance you're going to have any trouble in la zona. I've been in and about Tijuana for 20+ years (I live here) and I've never, not a single instance, had a reason to be afraid of anybody except crooked cops.

I've read the story in several Spanish-language sites. The narrative in Spanish seems to say that she had another guy, the baby's father, back home. He was the one who started trafficking her. I seriously doubt this guy, at 22, was able to go to Bumblefuck, MX, knock up a chica fresh from her quinceanera, and then start trafficking her. That's the job for some local dude.

One time a guy in HK said he was going to cut my head off in few minutes. A sat there because I felt if I moved he was going to attack. I waited him out. Considering that the clubs were "supposed to be closed due to the pandemic," I think that the Tijuana government will come down hard on the clubs, including the party floors of the hotels.
