How close is the beach to the main strip?

The bars are on Pedro Clisante street, which runs through town parallel to the highway. From the corner of Clisante & Dr Rosen street (more or less the center of the bar scene) it's about 10 minutes walk to the beach along either street.

I haven't been on this thread in a couple of months because it's been that long since I have been to the DR. I only came today to copy some info for a friend who headed down to Sosua this morning. However, backtracking over the last few pages I could not believe what I was reading:

Regarding the Novia situation, just so you know, I asked her. I was on a hump & dump mission when we met. Her demeanor impressed me so much I wanted to spend more time with her.

Yeah. I was impressed by Denzel's demeanor in Malcom X, but it didn't make me think he was THE Malcolm X. And of course, after, I wanted to see more of his movies. Acting.

I wasn't blinded by meeting her family, nor the fact that western union may come into play, because of the board members reporting their experiences.

Is that why you are even considering sending money? 10 out of 10 mongers have said it's a scam. However, the odds being what they are you think you will beat the house and make it only 10 out of 11 mongers who will be scammed.

Thats why I wanted to share mine, so guys in my situation would have no misconceptions. As you read, after my "Haitian Tigre" experience I wanted to leave the country and try something different. Now I look forward to getting back to see my novia, isn't that worth something.

Great assumption Einstein. Because you can bet between now and the 180 days until you return to Sosua maybe 20 Dominicanos and 60 gringoes will have gone through her. Again, I'm not one to tell a grown man how to spend his hard-earned money, but what, pray tell, might be your purpose for sending money to a grown woman/stranger whom you have known all of 24 hours?

I know that I want to see her again. As you read, she's not a 10, but we had a great connection I don't want to lose. So if I can keep a connection until my return, by helping her out from time to time. In my opion I don't think that is a bad thing.

Oh you will most definitely be able to see her again. I doubt that she will be taking any African safaris or planned vacations to the Pacific Islands anytime soon. She probably won't even make it over to Santiago, which is only stone's throw away from Sosua. If you want to keep a connection going then do it by good old fashioned telephone or email. But then again, I don't know of anything that can get you connected faster or keep you connected like YOUR MONEY!
Especially the way that you have passed it out in liberal portions. 6000 pesos in less than 24 hours to the same chica? I don't think I have ever spent that much total in the DR on any one trip on anything outside of a place to stay.

And just what kind of culture did you experience in the mongering town of Sosua? How was the art exhibit that was on display from July 2007 - Jan 2008? Did you get down to the new Shakespeare Theatre and see the Dominican rendition of the Tempest? At least you got the local jargon from this year down pat right? (Come to think of it do you even speak Spanish? Does she speak English?--What a connection)

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the dude from Houston for sending R5000 per month to my current Brasilian "girlfriend". Like I have said one million times, you have to look at it like it´s a carnival. When you arrive you pay your money to enter, you ride all the rides, you eat the popcorn and cotton candy, then you take your happy ass home until next time. You can not take the rides home with you as some people try to do. You have to leave them there for the next group of people who want to visit the carnival. As bars have to close early (1:00am Sun. Thurs and 2:00am Fri& Sun) the casino night club has turned into a good meeting point. Nightclub is alright, however Casino sucks as Management does not pay their staff well and just want to maxime their profit. This results in unhappy staff and service, very cheap alcohol, some very interesting "game" rules and senior management pissing off their clients. Nightclub Yes. Casino a very BIG NO.

In case gambling is your thing you should check out the ocean blue casino in cabarete. The casino was built 5 years ago and the interior is brand new. In this casino there is no cover charge to get in, they also provide secure parking, guards.....(i did check out this place in march 2007)
The staff provides great service and there are no interesting "game" rules at all in this place.
Above the casino is also a nightclub (the only one in cabarete which stays open till 5 am in the morning) which gets busy round about 1 am in the morning when all the other bars/clubs are shut down. Cover charge to get in is 200 pesos which has to be paid by everybody dominicans as well as foreigners.

Fuck the Casino Club in Sosua!!!!! I will never go into that club anymore they over charge gringos for drinks and like it was mentioned before locals dont have to pay to enter the club fuck that if we pay the locals have to pay to enter also. This bull shit doesnt happen in Rio at Club Help ever one pays to enter locals and gringos.

A newbie here.- A newbie to the DR, but not to the activity. I have made several visits to Total Satisfaction in Margarita Island, Venezuela.

Greatly appreciate all of the writings on the board which have helped prepare me for my debut visit to BB in 3 weeks. I hope to have a great time, and I hope to become a contributor to the board.

Two quick questions.-

1. Has anyone visited both Total Satisfaction and BB's, and can offer any comparisons of the two resorts?

2. Is it possible to exchange Travelers checks at BB's or Jenny's?

The beach is a 5 minute walk away.

The issue with the villa/apartment/condos is that with most you need a rental car. Try the New Garden Hotel.

Taking a quick survey on the best location to have an unforgettable 30th birthday celebration with three of my best friends in Sosua. Looking for the best location to have plenty of ladies and lots of fun. I have looked into two villas and confirmation on both but just looking for thoughts and/or opinions. First time in Sosua, stayed in Puerta Plata six months ago, and want to take full advantage of all Sosua has to offer. Thanks

The best massage parlor in Sosua is called La Passion which is at the very end of the pedro clisante street.
The main discos in Sosua are the merengue bar, classico`s, latino`s club and the sosua life bar.
