Yes, I have seen the pre-fab concrete blocks in pictures. I wonder if there is a place where one can get to see photos of the house / apartments from the outside and the neighborhood as well as pictures of the rooms including the bathrooms. Personally for me, that would be interesting learning.

Concrete block apartments pretty much the same as the interior of cheap hotels in Sosua. Floors are always concrete or tile, never carpet or wood. Bathrooms as per cheap hotels. In the campo, you can see a lot of homes that probably are not much different from the time of Columbus. Timber frame buildings with half cut timber and shingles made of half cut brushwood with the bark still on. Kitchen in a separate buiding (in case of fire) with a dirt floor, natural lighting, and a clay woodburning cook top. A pile of plantains in one corner, and a few chickens and cats walking around. A couple of big knives or choppers in the kitchen, and a couple of big caldera to cook in. Outdoor toilets in outhouse with deep pits with deepo vertical pits under bench with circular opening to sit on. Rainwater collect from gutters and stored in barrel on roof for showering and bathing. More water available from river, spring, or well on demand. Basic electrical supply with wires twisted together at joins and running along exposed beams. Rooms divided by wooden partitions about 6 feet high (big fire risk). Candles in use when electric supply is cut off (often).

Mosquito screens on bedroom window openings, but insects can enter via "ventilation" cracks in outer walls.

In other words, this is what residents of the US would call "camping".

How did you get to Los 27 Charcos Damajagua? Did you have a car? I would like to visit the falls on my next trip. They sound cool.

You don't need a car or taxi. Just catch the Santiago publico from La Javilla (in Puerto Plata) or the La Javilla Tours bus (also from La Javilla) and they will drop you off at the turning. It's about two miles past Imbert on the Santiago road. Cost you less than 50 pesos one way. Then it is quarter-mile walk to the pay kiosk. Don't go if there has been much heavy rain lately.

No bathroom pics but I am sure you can just imagine, not a pretty sight. I have been to many of the poorer barrios in both the DR and Colombia and it is a sobering experience every single visit.

These are certainly useful labor saving devices and can carry a payload of 10 gallons, versus 5 gallons for a human water carrier, but it still needs a human to load the mule and wield the stick to keep the mule on task.

You will definitely be at a disadvantage if you didn't, LOL.

Most of us get cell phones because you will more than likely:

1. Meet a chica that you want to bang, but just not at the moment (especially if you've been banging other chicas all day and are out of leche)

2. Bang a chica that absolutely rocks your socks in the sack and you wish to repeat with her again later or another day.

For number 1, just hand said chica your cell phone and she will input her cell number. You can either buy a cheap international / unlocked quad-band phone from Amazon. Com to bring with you, or just go to the Claro or Orange store once you get there and buy a cheap Dominican phone. There is usually also a guy walking around Sosua with a rack of phones for sale with minutes on them already. Just make sure it works before you give him any money.

Sometimes chicas will call your phone and hang up. Just call them back. They are just trying to save their minutes on their phone (incoming calls are free to them). If you call a chica and her phone is off, she is either with another guy, or her phone is dead (electricity is not 24/7 in the Barrios) , which is why it is always good to get multiple numbers from different chicas.

If you run out of minutes you can always buy more at most of the little supermarkets and they will give you a card with a code. I always ask them to do it for me (never could figure it out, LOL). You can also just go to the store where you bought the phone and buy more there.

Good Idea BUT I never part with any of my properties. I will normally take a chicas phone and call mine. That way I have her number show on my phone. All it has to do is ring once.

Calypso is squalid. Somewhat better is the short-time room at the Central Bar (next to the Merengue Bar). The cabaña in Sosua is called Secreto Dulce and is at Playa Chiquita (400 pesos for 3 hours).

There is a good cabana in sosua. I believe its cabana love and care. Its before you get to entrada el choco to the left but from the main strip on pedro clisante you will need a car to get there or a moto choncho. Very clean and nice and has served its purpose several times. I believe many on this board will have better direction.

Can't be fun in summer. As someone said here, not seeing the actual conditions under which people live, de-sensitizes us. I really would like to see these people in their own element (not in a club) to get a real feel of the place.

It is probably not advisable for everyone to use this practice, but I never negotiate prices beforehand. Actually, I'm rarely told a price. I have a good idea of the market and when I'm taken well care of I'm generous anyway. I prefer the illusion so negotiating prices would kill it for me.

Again, don't underestimate the power of an interview. What is the rush? Chill out and scope the scene while you get a good feel of the chicas.

I think gone are the days when we pick up women and give them the going rate plus or minus few dollars. The women in disco have become much more mercenary. But if you pick manage to pick up girls from Santiago and other places who come there few nights off and on they will be happy to acept what you give. It is the regulars in Sosua who are mercenary.

I usually pick up only non regulars and never had a problem even without pre discussion. Sometimes setting up fees before does not hold good once the girl finds out how gullible you are. So it is better to be firm and not treat her like a gf lavishing praises.

Let me tell you a little story that happened to me on my first visit to Sosua, in February last year. .

Sounds naive now, but at the time, there had been no discussion about money beforehand really at all. Anyway, once I said this her attitude and even her voice changed completely and she became quite disagreeable, at least vocally. She said '500 pesos, what am I going to do with that? Ome choice words under my breath (which she would need to lip read) , otherwise a mean stare or usually I just totally ignored her. .

She always works alone at her bar, every now and again she seemed to have attracted some poor tourist victim to sit down for at least a drink with her. Anyway, I learned my lesson there, not to be repeated.

Probably she figured out that you were on your first day in Sosua, and thought you were easy pickings. It is a well known fact among the community of people who make it their business to know such things, that sex-hungry guys arriving on their first day in Sosua will pay more than the going rate for sex and motoconchos.

Gentlemen, it is almost never a good idea to have sex with a prostitute without discussing the price first, unless, possibly, you are in your own country and you are a cop and prostitution is illegal. Even then be careful. In the DR you can often have sexual experiences that are so enjoyable that you forget that it is all for money, but never forget that you are dealing with people who work in an unregulated profession, and from their point of view it is all about the money, not the sex, even if they do enjoy the act of sex when they get carried away in the moment, or they fancy the guy, or they are just feeling horny.

also you should bear in mind that they might have been being polite. water is in short supply in many dominican homes and to flush after peeing (only) would be considered anti-social behaviour. that luxury is reserved for after taking a crap.

Very interesting to read about your experience. One thing I don't understand though, if that was already the fifth night you were seeing her though, it would be understandable that you felt comfortable enough not to have discussed payment beforehand. How much did you pay her the other four times you met?

Coupe66, I think you are reading this incorrectly. He is saying that he saw her at Classicos (standing around) for 4 nights and then approached her on the fifth night he saw her to talk to her about going back to his hotel room.

MS Clive: I think you mentioned that she may have only been picked up only once out of the 4 nights you saw her, but mention the fact that she is very sexy. I just got into a hand-to-hand fight with a very hot chica in my room. She got my $250 glasses and almost snapped them in half. I am a very mellow guy so this is rare for me. I used my common sense and when she was kicked out at the hotel entrance I went down and I paid her off anyway. 3,500 DOP total and paid 1, 000 to the security guard as propina. Better to pay the * off than worry about my own safety in her homeland. She was good though with great assets and tight pussy. If she had pre-negotiated 3, 500 I would have agreed anyway.

I learnt my lesson tonight that I need to pre-negotiate rates rather than leave anything to chance. The money does not matter as much as losing my patience on my precious vacation time.

Ok you experienced guys will tell me that 3, 500 is way too much to pay. I agree. But the problem is that when I am back on dry-land I always remember the 1 or 2 chicas that I was not able to do. Becomes an obsession and it eventually costs me more in air tickets etc. So it is best to pay and fulfill my curiosity when I can. On the brighter side 2 days ago I had a freebie non-pro from Classico so I guess the average rate I paid on this trip is still just below average.

But eventually, I think she realised she wasn't getting anymore that that, and then suddenly changed back to being polite and said OK then, and we left the room. Once she got her Cedula back from the reception (main reception of Sosua bay beach club) I walked her out the first 10 metres towards the Casino. She said bye and I said sarcastically, in spanish, 'thanks for giving me such a lovely first impression of Dominican women, and don't come back here! ', which I think she took seriously.

It definitely left me with a bad impression of the scene there for at least the rest of that day, but don't worry, I certainly didn't let that experience affect my stay there. I'm coming to Sosua for the first time June 8th through the 12th I know this is a ways away but I want to start planning now.

I booked a room at the new garden in the old section. How is this compared to the new section from what I understand there are women available there if so what are the prices.

I have read about La Passions and Classicos as the place to find P4P how close are these places to New Garden. I know La Passions has set prices what are the prices at Classicos. What other locations are there to find P4P and what will the prices be. Are there daytime options available.

Where can I get Viagra and what will the prices be. Are dollars accepted or will I have to convert my money into the local currency.

Will anyone be there around this time and want to meet up and show this DR newbe around.

Rooms in new wing of NG are nicer and larger. Resident NG chicas are available from early afternoon to early evening. Not great but they get the job done. They will ask for the world but will settle for 1000 ST.

La Passions a 10 minute walk from NG. Classicos around the corner.

La Passions 2500 ST. Take out depends on the time of day / night. They have a website with list their prices.

Last two trips I had no problems getting accommodating chicas for 1000 st. 2000 TLN. Besides Classicos, Merengue Bar and the bar below it, I like Latino's, Bar Central and La Rumba's.

There was daytime action available. Things picked up in late afternoon. A lot of guys have luck at the beach.
